Any of you old fellas have any fond memories or otherwise of Shakey's Pizza Parlor on Airline Hwy back in the day?

With the glass window that you could watch them major your pizza and the arcade with the full size shooting game…. Great times , don’t remember if the pizza was worth a shot though?

I used to love Shakey’s Pizza as a kid. Probably not that location but as a chain in general. The sausage crumbles had a distinctive flavor.

My first memory of having pizza in a restaurant was Shakey's but in Georgia in the 70s. It blew my mind. My only experience with pizza before that was my mom's Chef Boyardee pizza kit, which I loved... loaded with ground beef.

Still remember the piano player vividly. Parents loved the place b/c of this. Late 60's / early 70's in Lafayette. If I recall it was where the old Shangri La building, now La Papa Loca is located. There wasn't much past that spot other than Doug Ashy and Howard's Dept. store. I was young so some old timers from Lafayette please chime in.

Chef Boyardee pizza kit,

I loved those so much. I would get so excited when I saw that box come out of the pantry.

Going on vacation with the family to Houston as a kid in the 70's always involved a trip to Shakey's. My dad was cheap so he loved going to Astroworld because we could stay with my Aunt and Uncle. Shakey's and Astroworld went hand in hand. We used to love blowing the Root Beer foam off the top of the frosted glasses while the piano banged away.

Looked it up earlier.

Last location East of the River shut in 2019, Auburn, AL.

The first date my wife and I went to Shakey's in Fondren neighborhood in Jackson, on Fondren Place in the building that is now the post office. We had a sausage and shrimp thin crust pizza. Their thin crust was great. It had a crispness with bubbles baked into the crust. She was not old enough, but we still went into the beer side and enjoyed the piano player. After that, we went up the hill to the Capri Theater to see Dr. Zhivago.

Tried to go there whenever we could work it into a date.

Married 53 years now.

Many good memories of Shakeys. They had really good pizzas, unlike any you find now. I think the chain would be successful now if it came back with the same recipes.

We used to go to the one on Vets where Shogun is now. Popular place to go after high school football games back in the 70s. Good pizza.

I used a different Shakey's in a different state but have very fond memories of it. Auburn had one at one time and I ate there when it was open.

Loved Shakey's

I did all the metal stud work and ceiling work for the one built in Auburn. I hated to see that it was closed last time I was there. The owner was a really nice guy. I had never heard of it till I built that one. The fried chicken was on point.

Used to go to Shakey’s for birthday parties and stuff growing up in Green Bay. Good times. Pizza was probably crap but we were kids.

ETA: I just watched some 1980s Shakey’s commercials and they were advertising two topping medium pizzas for $6.99, in 1986! I can go get that pizza and price at dominos right now. Crazy.
