Mine runs every day on high speed (90%) from 7 to noon and then noon to 9pm on low speed (50%).

My pump only has one speed. Sorry I'm poor.

It runs 7:30pm to 7:30am so the aerators can cool the water down. Again, because I'm poor.

I set my pump by RPM amounts not by a percentage. I am currently running at 2350 RPM from 6:30 AM to 6:00 AM—so pretty much all day.

8pm-10pm - 2800rpm
10pm - 7:30am - 2350rpm

10am-10:20am - 2800rpm (just to clean up floating leaves and grass clippings I was seeing collect)

I have an old 1 speed motor and have been running it nonstop for at least a month since I got the algae under control. I may cut it back to around 10am-10pm to have it running just the hottest times of the day to keep chlorine circulating.

Not sure if that’s a good idea or not, maybe someone can shed some light on the idea.

I don't know if it is or not, but I run my pump 24/7. My pool is only open from May to September though.

All night 2300 RPM.

How often are you adding chlorine? I seem to add a couple of pounds every 2-3 days for a 15000 gallon pool.

And for those of you running at night, just curious of your logic outside of cooling the pool down. Seems like running it during the day when the algae is able to grow would beat running it at night. I'm not a pool chemist though so I'm just questioning my own logic as well.

I run at night because of the cooling, as well as the salt water generation isn't fighting the sun. If you are trying to generate chlorine during the full sun day, you are largely pissing in the wind. Not sure what the right answer is for a non-swg setup.

Same answer here.

About 1/2 lb cal hypo every evening for 20k gallons. Probably remember 2/3 of the time.
I have low CYA levels(30-35ish) because I like my chlorine to work and saving CYA space so I can use tabs for a ten day vacation in a few days and not come home to a chlorine locked pool. .
Cal hypo isn’t ideal like sodium hypo but soft water is impossible here anyway and 100# buckets can be found on Craigslist/offer up for like $220.

Probably a dumb question but I just upgraded my system and got variable speed pumps, my iAquaLink doesn’t have an option for setting the speed it’s just on or off. Is there a setting somewhere to change it?

Depends on pump brand. Probably extra cable required.
I don’t use the remote frequency controls because I don’t see the need, but you can probably set it up as there are a few options for compatibility in the manual.

7500 Salt Water pool with 8'x8' spa

Pump is running at 2750 rpms from 8am to 8pm. SWG running at 80% right now. I just had to turn it up. My FC was dropping. It's around 5 now and holding.

My pump is a variable speed and I think it tops out at 3200 or 3400. I dont run it that high.

5-7: 2400 rpm
10-12: 2400 rpm
5-7: 2400 rpm

All other times it’s running at 1200 rpm. The higher speeds are really just for skimming.

I run the pump from 4pm till 8 am.

I manually turn it back on if we are swimming in it, I like the bubblers and shite to be blowing.

I run it at night to cool the water. Leave off in the day as I found I am able to keep it cooler this way.
