BATON ROUGE — The Southeastern Conference has fined LSU $250,000 for its fans storming the Tiger Stadium field after a 29-26 overtime victory, and under a new league policy the money will be paid to the Rebels.
The revised policy, adopted by the conference at SEC Spring Meetings in 2023, says that schools should limit access to the field to official personnel only.
"For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest may spectators enter the competition area," the policy states.
Penalties range from $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense and $500,000 for third and subsequent offenses, the SEC added.

What happens if we just don’t pay it? Lol
Maybe Trump can work in “storming the field” fine forgiveness

I find it weirdly satisfying in a way. Just imaging the joy of the winning athletic director writing that check and the shame of the losing one having to accept it.
I know it's not an actual written check Im sure...but the visual is still satisfying to me

razor wire? how the frick do you prevent kids from storming the field. I hate it but i guess the SEC thinks we should have the field lined with cops on horseback. maybe we should have a bunch of cops shooting students with bean bags and pepper spray...that would be a good look

how does this "per offense" thing work?
is it "per offense" over a set period of time? because this is our first time this year (don't remember doing it last year for any games) but 3rd time in 3 years.
"per offense" against a certain opponent over a certain period of time? (2nd time against Ole Miss recently, but 3rd time in last decade).
or just forever and ever going forward? if next time it happens is the year 2063, will they say "well, remember 39 years ago when y'all rushed it against Ole Miss?"

I’d be embarrassed to take it if I were Ole Miss. And it’d be the sweetest $250k check I ever stroked if I were LSU. Would have a whole lot of fun filling out the “memo” line.

How often does it reset? We should be at 500k according to that

I’m sure the money comes out of the lsu distribution money from the sec.

There are 102,000+ people in the stands. How is it possible for 100+/- security personnel to stop that many people in a non-violent manner?
Has ANY school ever stopped a crowd that REALLY wanted to storm the field? No, they have not. It's impossible.

correct at end of year when SEC hands out the revenue distribution, $250k will be subtracted from LSU's share and added to Ole Miss'.

How do you stop 30,000 people or more from doing something if they really want to do it? Idiotic.

Didn't they have cops on horseback in the early 00's around the borders? And there was no storming the field...even in 2007 with all those crazy finishes.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but there were certainly cops all along the border of the student section toward the end of games to dissuade anyone from storming the field.

I like that more than it just going to the league offices. I guess you could have it split between all the schools if you really wanted to. I'm not really sure where I would rather the money go.

Lame. I'm gonna pretend like I never read this and imagine Woody writing a check while chuckling
