The Baptism of our Lord is this coming Sunday. Can you put a tickler on your calendar to take the lights down then?
I don't want the site to look too cheap by leaving the lights up too long, nor too pagan by taking them down too early.

This is the onl t correct way. The faux Louisiana city of Shreveport has been extra awful this year.... dozens of MG flags out already...king cakes in stores since last week...worst offense of all... our biggest "krewe" held a "12th night" celebration Saturday...shame

Both have been too political

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that politics must serve the common good and that Catholics have a moral duty to participate. Thus, politics is an integral part of human life.
To quote the CCC:
quote:
CCC 1913
“Participation is the voluntary and generous engagement of a person in social interchange. It is necessary that all participate, each according to his position and role, in promoting the common good. This obligation is inherent in the dignity of the human person.”
CCC 1914
“As far as possible citizens should take an active part in public life. The manner of this participation may vary from one country or culture to another.”
CCC 1915
“As a citizen, each person is bound in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel. Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community.”
CCC 1916
“The duty of making oneself a neighbor to others and actively serving them becomes even more urgent when it involves the disadvantaged, in whatever area this may be. ‘As you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’”
CCC 1917
“Participation in social life is an essential duty of the citizen. ‘Everyone, according to his position and role, must contribute to the common good.’”

How about a new tradition?
If someone on the Fark Board can recreate the lights in a Mardi Gras theme, that would be fire...
Then some one can create a them for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and the 4th of July.
