Number 2 portal team in the nation last year, and the team sucked. The roster was bad. We all saw it. The record showed it. The portal rankings DO NOT MATTER.

They matter, but not as much as one might think. LSU is in the SEC. If you don't have strong interior play, you aren't winning. They failed in evaluations in that area for sure.

I don’t think you realize the players we got from the portal were some of the best players on the team. And Lane is better at developing these portal players than Kelly, look at Chambliss and Lacy.

Our biggest problem was we had a quarterback who could not scramble and sustain drives

Delaine, Haulcy, B Brown, Moore , Gooden etc… were worthy of that ranking .
Team sucked because the offense didn’t know how to run the ball and the QB was bad.

Eh. Almost all of our transfers hit on an individual level, that’s because they’re talented.
I think your premise is missing the point. I think they’re more or less about as accurate as HS recruiting rankings.
Measures talent, doesn’t mean you’ll win anything.

Unfortunately when your offense is once dimensional you can't help but suck. Nuss was a bust. Injured? Lack of mobility and un willingness to run.? No deep over the top threat. Wide outs got the dropsy. Playing calling very predictable. Unable to run the ball. O- line could got where it could block but could not sustain the block long enough to make a hole for a back to slip through. We now have an upgrade so lets see what LSU can do with it.

It had way more to do with the offensive scheme and OL play than anything else.

I think the portal rankings matter, but having your offensive line practice on blocking sleds and coaching them up to be nasty matters more.

Skill players dont matter when the line cant block for the pass or the run.

You don't think the coaches had anything to do with why the team & players sucked. C'mon man don't be a freaking moron.
Brian Kelly - was checked out before the Clemson game
Frank Wilson - Doesn't know how to develop RB's
Cortez Hankton - lazy - halfway developed the WR's
Brad Davis - do I even need to say anything about him
Joe Sloan - do I even need to say anything about him
Jake Flint - had all the players soft
Only coaches worth a crap were all on the defense.

We did not have an OL nor did we have an OC worth a shite.
