We did. He went to Michigan.

Because Joe Sloan is one of the worst things to happen to LSU football in the history of the program.

Because it is more efficient to get them out of the portal

Because Brian Kelly was playing golf

The days of recruiting a young quarterback and having him stick around for two years to be developed are over.

That’s the ten million dollar question
Posted on 1/9/26 at 12:35 pm to Islandboy777
we did try... we had the #1 QB prospect committed upto about 2 weeks before signing day, which fricked us that year... and this cycle we wanted Bowe Bentley, but he didn't want us... and no one else did either, considering what they saw of the offense...

Guys aren’t staying and waiting there turn anymore

You invest upper end money into something for pretty much two years with almost no return 98% of the time.

That actually fricked us for this year too because we were behind on all the QBs for this class since the ones in this class assumed they'd have to sit behind Underwood

Kelly struck gold with Jayden. But other than that, his management of the QB position was a massive fail. The most critical position on the team and he fricked it up every which way.

Hurley signed, Underwood was committed until signing week, and we were in the final 2 for Bowe Bentley.

Kelly and Sloan completely struck out in the 2026 cycle after losing Underwood last minute in 2025 cycle
2025 not necessarily on them but inexcusable to not have a 2026 QB. They had 10 months before they were let go to get a 2026 QB on board. Just another reason it was so easy to can both mid-season when they did. Not only was the offense worthless they had zero future lined up.
