Danish energy company Orsted got a win against Trump today.

A federal judge ruled Monday that work on a major offshore wind farm for Rhode Island and Connecticut can resume, handing the industry at least a temporary victory as President Donald Trump seeks to shut it down. At the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Senior Judge Royce Lamberth said the government did not explain why it could not take action short of a complete stop to construction on Revolution Wind while it considers ways to mitigate its national security concerns. He said it also did not provide sufficient reasoning for its change in position. Revolution Wind has received all of its federal permits and is nearly 90% complete to provide power for Rhode Island and Connecticut. Trump says his goal is to not let any “windmills” be built. Three energy developers are challenging the administration’s freeze of their offshore wind projects in the federal courts this week.

AP should be reminded… it wasn’t a win “against Trump” as much as it is a win against the United States of America.

I'm curious, what national security threats was the Trump admin complaining about? It's a Danish company, not Chinese.

I’m in the energy industry and my company does all kinds of oil, gas and renewables projects.
It’s actually good that the project can move forward because it’s 90% complete. It would not be fair to the operator to cancel the job at this point.
Dozens of future projects for offshore US have been cancelled or put on hold due to the Trump admin. That is because Trump favors oil and gas and he is not a big fan of renewables. But, the rest of the world outside the US is investing heavily on Wind. So those jobs are still on going.

The national security issue has to do with radar interference and problems that the offshore wind turbines and towers cause. I think there are workarounds, but the Trump admin doesn’t like wind, so they are using that card to shut wind projects down.

Wind projects are retarded. Anything other than nuclear is retarded. If you disagree, you are anti-science.

The other judge hearing a case is a black homosexual man appointed by Biden.

Wind energy as an idea is good but in practice it's complete trash and no better than using oil. Id love to figure out a more effective method but right now this ain't it.

Renewables are still going forward, but they are on a ticking clock. I think our professions may overlap. There is a hurry up to get them initiated. Solar and wind companies know time is limited. Smaller companies are going bankrupt already. We have outstanding invoices for a few of them

Eh. Ideally we would be all nuclear. But it’s still way more expensive to build and takes way longer to build than natural gas.
And here in the south where we have plenty of natural gas it will continue to be cheaper using natural gas over nuclear.

And it’s absolutely fricking stupid that they are. Wind energy bullshite is a pipe dream and an absolute waste of resources.

Random question...what's the difference between Trump doing this and Biden shutting down offshore drilling?
Posted on 1/13/26 at 6:11 am to AUstar
Europe is more of a concern to me than China. I know that China is untrustworthy.
Europe, however, isn’t supposed to mess us over (supposedly).

Hasn’t wind power caused rate increases in jolly old England?

One is a scam and wastes taxpayer money. The other is actually useful and creates wealth.

Working as a janitor at a oil services company does not equate with working in the field of oil services
