Or maybe we cheat and say 95% of the movie set at sea, which rules out movies like Jaws.

Love these types of movies, but haven't seen many of them if they do exist.

My list:
1. Master and Commander
2. Dead Calm
3. The Abyss
4. In the Heart of the Sea
5. Finding Nemo

Deep Rising is an awesome horror movie that doesn’t get enough love.

Definitely thought about these when I saw the title

Also, I think these are close

Jaws
The Little Mermaid
Finding Nemo
Captain Phillips
The Life of Pi
Moby Dick

Don't qualify but do center around the ocean

Splash
Cast Away

The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
All Is Lost
Life of Pi

Some good suggestions already. I feel like we need some old school pirate movies. I thought about Captain Blood a particular favorite of mine but a lot of that takes place on the island of Jamaica.

I need to watch this again. I'm obviously not smart enough to "get it" the first time around.
