The only thing worse than a clickbait tweet is a clickbait thread consisting of nothing but a clickbait tweet

There is simply no way they’d do that.

Im no baseball guy so I might be entirely wrong in this statement but I could see them saying if you arent going in the top say 4 rounds then you have to go to college or something like that. Again im not a baseball guy but I could see it

I think the owners want to push for it. Pretty much no one else in the industry wants it to happen.

I think this is being leaked as a trial balloon right now to gauge public response.

How does the MLBPA feel about it? They get whatever they want.

Yup. There’s going to be a long, bitter lockout. Owners won’t get everything they want. But they’ll get something. I don’t think they’ll get this, but they have just a good a shot at this as a salary cap. It’s not like the MLBPA has a long history of going to bat for amateurs and minor leaguers.

They should hate it. But Tony Clark is a moron. I don't know what their stance on it truly is, but their practical stance is to be anti- anything the owners want until the owners give them enough to make it palatable.

Need to get rid of the softball bats. Might add legitimacy to the sport

There needs to be. It is past time that owners bite the bullet and show these guys who the boss is.

MLB players take home a smaller piece of the revenue pie (3% to 6% less) than their NFL and NBA counterparts. Let’s not act like the MLB owners have it bad.

No way this happens. A 17 year old kid who throws above 90 mph and the next Joe Mauer or Ken Griffey Jr or Byron Buxton are not going to be forced to play college baseball for a year. Plus some kids are so borderline academically they could flunk out Fall semester their freshman year no matter what support and easy classes and cheating occurs.

Are you aware that pretty much every single pitching signee in the SEC was throwing above 90 mph as a 17 year old?

That's what JUCO 1 and done is for.

Part of me likes this because it improves college baseball

But if they allow one and done at ncaa level, that might be a net negative

This with two and done could work

Are they going to force all those kids from the Caribbean farm programs to attend college?

I doubt it.
