+27 to -10 in less than four years

This is what McMahon has done to LSU's historic overall SEC record since he came to LSU.
Prior to his arrival, LSU was 720-693 in the SEC overall.
now they are 737-747 and below 0.500 overall for the first time since the 1978-1979 season.
Should be -11 by this weekend too.

Historically, it is pretty pathetic LSU has an conference all-time losing record. Aside from UK, there is no other dominant program.

I get so tired of making this argument but here we go again. No intelligent LSU fan thinks we are a basketball schools we are all fully aware that we are a football and baseball schools. Most intelligent LSU fans realize we are never going to consistently be thought of as a potential Nat Championship team or maybe not ever even win one Natty.
However we expect the have a competitive team that is fun to watch, wins more than they lose, makes the Tournament most years and occasionally makes a run to a Sweet 16 or better. Thats it. Give us that and most honest and intelligent LSU are good.

Currently, a -10 margin.
The program was .500 after the 68-69 season. But clawed back to +10 before dropping off to +4 in Press' last season.
When Dale Brown then took over, things dropped over the first 5 seasons to -18 by the 1976-77 season, then began climbing back up to -2 in the 78-79 season. That was the last time LSU was negative, until now.

Intelligent fans know that's ONLY because LSU has not hit on the right hire in basketball like it did in those sports. At least since Brown left. LSU was NEVER a "baseball school"...until it hired an assistant coach from Miami. LSU wasn't exactly thought of as a great "football school" in the 90's when it had 6 losing seasons in 10 years, and it wasn't thought of as a national power....until it hired a guy from Michigan St.
LSU has been tor four Final Four's in its history. Alabama has been to one...just a few years ago. Yet for the last 6 years Alabama has been one of the nation's better programs. Is that because the school collectively decided they were going to be really good for the first time in history? No. They simply "hit" with the right HC. Same for Auburn.
This whole "baseball school", "football school", etc is simplistic and stupid. LSU, like every other school, is a "whatever is winning" school. Get the right HC and EVERYTHING flows from that. If you need any more examples, just look at the big gold trophy sitting in Bloomington, IN. Indiana football isn't great now because after 100 years the fans/admin decided it was time to be really good at football. It's because Indiana made a GREAT HC hire.
LSU has all the resources in the world to be a great basketball program. They just don't have the guy who can lead them there.

And this post is spot on. If LSU is a football school, why is pretty much every other athletic sport at LSU ranked in Top 25 of their respective sport, except for mens basketball?
A good basketball coach shouldn't be to much to ask, since LSU mens basketball is the only other profitable sport at LSU. Like Kingshakabooboo stated, fans want a winner, to be in the dance most years. Its not National Championship or bust like baseball or football.
