Should he be a Sunday starter every week until Moore gets better?

He pitched great in my opinion. All unearned runs I believe.

Honestly the staff was pretty good all weekend. Only 2 ERs today and yesterday they only gave up 2 ER. It’s defensive miscues is what kills this team

If it’s not Cowan, I like Fontenot Sunday. It also gives you the chance to use Cowan Friday or Saturday to help get a W.

Whichever you don’t need on Friday/saturday.

I think Fontenot with a max of 2x thru the order is a good option. We really just need our Sunday guy to get us 12-15 outs, whereas we need Casan and Schmidt to get us 15 at an absolute minimum for us to be successful.

I think Jay likes Cowan coming in for long relief. If you make it to Sunday without using him. If the Sunday guy can give you 3-4, and Cowan gives you 4, you are set up perfect for the 8th/9th.

I would be good with Fontenot on Sunday as starter. Really need to keep Guidry, Cowan, and Sheerin for relief and possible long relief duties.

Im in on Fontenot. Should not have been pulled either. Defense let him down.

Until we get Moore back, and given the importance of winning games for us, I would say the best plan for sunday is to worry about it after Saturday is over. Use any and every person you need to finish off games those two days if you are in a position to win them. Then use the best of whoever is left sunday, and come prepared to hang 15+ runs if it's necessary.

He’s an objectively horrible catcher and at the same time a good hitter.

Not Cowan. He’s more effective out of the pen due to his slower speed.

Start a guy throwing 95+ then bring Cowan in get the lineup at least off balance once or twice thru the order.

Yea I think Cowan behind Fontenot is a really goood way to keep the opposition off balance. I think Sunday truly remains a tbd and just see who you have left to go win it. If you need Cowan Fontenot Guidry etc on fri/sat then you don’t hesitate

Just about anyone but Guidry. His stuff is good but I believe he is too emotional to start games. He is great in the long reliever roll but struggles when they try to start him. Keep him in the spot that he can pitch with the high emotion. It’s hard to throw 5 innings when you get as excited as he does.

Is there a timeline on Moore’s return?
