Former Tiger baseball players and how they are doing

quote:
Brady Neal, Alabama
Neal, the former LSU catcher, is having a career year in his second season with the Crimson Tide. He has seven home runs, a .375 batting average, and a .656 slugging percentage, setting career-highs in batting average and slugging percentage. His breakout campaign comes after he struggled in his first campaign in Tuscaloosa, only hitting .219 with a .336 slugging percentage last year.
quote:
Mikey Ryan, NC State
After hardly playing as a freshman at LSU, Ryan is hitting .317 with eight home runs and a .585 slugging percentage for the Wolfpack. As the shortstop, he’s helped NC State crack the top half of the ACC standings.
quote:
Ashton Larson, Texas
Larson is hitting .328 with a .512 on-base percentage in 25 starts for the Longhorns this spring. He only has five extra-base hits, but the junior outfielder’s consistency at the plate has helped Texas sprint out to a 28-7 record on the season
quote:
Ryan Costello, Maryland
Costello, who is from New Jersey, returned to the Mid-Atlantic over the offseason, and the decision has paid off. The former Tigers first baseman has 13 home runs and a .627 slugging percentage in 32 starts. He’s tied with projected No. 1 overall pick Roch Cholowsky for third place in the Big Ten in homers.
quote:
Ryan Kucherak, Northwestern
Kucherak broke out for the Wildcats in 2025, with 18 home runs and a .639 slugging percentage in 52 games. The power hasn’t been quite as prolific so far this season, but the shortstop still has seven homers and a .380 on-base percentage.
quote:
Austen Roellig, Arizona State
Roellig transferred to Utah after redshirting in 2024 and impressed as a first-year starter, hitting .341 with just 2 errors in 50 starts while primarily playing third base. He then transferred to Arizona State over the offseason and is hitting .291 with a .404 on-base percentage in 35 games.
quote:
Mic Paul, Washington
As the Huskies’ center fielder, Paul has struggled at the plate in his first season at Washington. He’s hitting .239 with one home run and a .345 slugging percentage in 34 games played.
Brennan Holt, Alabama
Holt has jumped around quite a bit after leaving LSU after his first year. The infielder started nine games at Oklahoma State in 2023 before spending two years at South Alabama, hitting .283 during his time with the Jaguars. Now at Alabama, Holt has become the Crimson Tide’s everyday second baseman and is hitting .281 with a .450 on-base percentage.
quote:
Blaise Priester, Southeastern Louisiana
Priester only had seven at-bats for the Tigers last season, but this year at Southeastern Louisiana, he’s started 32 games and has a .252 batting average with six home runs.
quote:
Zeb Ruddell, Louisiana Tech
After a promising first season at Louisiana Tech, Ruddell has taken a couple of steps back in his production. He’s hitting .173 with a .279 on-base percentage this year after the outfielder hit .278 with nine homers a year ago.
Kaleb Applebey, Austin Peay
Applebey never appeared in a game at LSU, but he has become a trusted arm in two seasons at Austin Peay. The right-hander had eight saves in 18 relief appearances in 2025 and has started five games this season.
Chandler Dorsey, UCF
Dorsey hasn’t pitched since mid-March, as the senior right-hander holds a 10.13 ERA in just 5? innings for the Knights. However, one of his six appearances came against LSU, and in that outing, he didn’t allow a run in 1? innings.

Dorsey looks like he could fit right in perfectly with this bullpen

Left the LSU game with an injury. IIRC holding his elbow.

Man I miss Larson, Costello and Ryan. We could really use those 3 right now

Mikey looks like he’d been a good one to hang on to.

There are some real misses in evaluation there. We replaced those dudes with York, Dardar, Callaway. Not a great year for Jay and his staff.

Cam sanders called up today.

Some of those guys I don't think were "processed", i think they choose to leave for their own reasons. Costello is kind of an obvious one. He going too have the inside track to be 1B this year. Him leaving is why we had to go out and find someone to play there. Larson is another one that i think jay would have loved to have kept but i think he wanted to play of and that wasn't likely to happen (I think he would have had a good shot at 1b too).
At least one of those IF guys would have been nice to have but a lot of those left a couple years ago. I'll take a natty in hand over one in the bush.
As for neal, while he would be a defensive upgrade at catcher, which we definitely need, his attitude sucked and i wasn't disappointed when he left. Also IMO we don't win it all last year if he stayed

Here are the last 4 on the list:
David Hogg, Grayson College
Hogg has accumulated video game-like numbers at the junior college level. In 38 games, the infielder has 10 home runs, 21 extra-base hits and a .733 slugging percentage.
Dylan Thompson, Blinn
Thompson has thrived since transferring from LSU to Blinn College, the same junior college Tanner Reaves attended before transferring to LSU. Thompson, the right-hander, has a 2.14 ERA and just nine walks in 33? innings.
Nic Bronzini, Little Rock
Bronzini transferred to Washington after the 2024 season, but he only made one appearance with the Huskies and then took his talents to Little Rock. This year for the Trojans, the left-hander has a 6.00 ERA in 18 innings.
Derrick Mitchell, Austin Peay
Mitchell has seen more of the field this season after having just three at-bats last year with Austin Peay. The redshirt sophomore outfielder has started four games and has gone 3 for 13 at the plate.

Neal is just as bad defensively as every catcher we have today if you think that Neal is an upgrade I’m sorry you didn’t watch him enough in his time here. Limp wristed puss couldn’t hold on to a ball either. The worst sec catcher I can recall. You were right on one thing his attitude sucked always and he got hit in his throwing hand constantly cause he didn’t protect it then flopped like a fish for 10 mins every time it got hit. The reason Neal plays outfield for bama now he still can’t catch

It would be nice to have Mikey Ryan back at SS next season, assuming Milam's leaving.
I wonder if him returning is a possibility?

I wouldn’t mind having these guys back next year

Many of the guys who left wanted assurances of playing time and/or more money.

Brady Neal, Alabama
I always thought this guy would get there. Seems to be doing well at Alabama.

But he’s a douche bag bad teammate and terrible defensively. Neal isn’t the solution to our woes.

He'd be the best player on the team right now lol

Nope. Still a count.

Yep, there are a lot of guys on the list that never had any business being on LSU's roster.

is hitting .133 / .304 /. 400 in conference play lol.

At the time, the only one I really hated to lose was Costello because I thought 1B was all his after Bear.
Larson would've certainly gotten opportunity on this team, but I still don't think he would solidify himself as an everyday starter in the OF.
