Still time to sign a CB already in the portal.

They are really high on Jackson and Finney. Jackson battled some injuries last year but looked pretty solid when he played. I’m more curious of how the safety room plays out and who we go with at the star position.

We are still recruiting a couple CB’s.
We will get to 105 players

I thought we would pick up one elite CB in the portal but we do appear to have a very good secondary.
I don’t know how you’d convince an elite corner to come here. The two starting spots are locked up. And if you aren’t trying to bring in an elite piece you are just looking for depth. And if you just want depth you might as well just leave room for the young kids to fight it out.

Nothing worth going after. Also, I'd rather Raymond build his guys up for the most part. We have some legit talent back there and people forget in our best secondaries, we always had some young and hungry talent paired with the experienced guys. Young Donte Jackson, young Greedy Williams, young Grant Delpit, young Mo Claiborne, young Pat Pete, young Jamal Adams, young Eric Reid, young Honey Badger, young Sting.
Raymond knows what he wants. Did you know that Mansoor Delane was the #15 ranked CB coming out the portal according to 247? He wasn't even a top 100 overall transfer. However he became the best CB in the country under Raymond and is considered a top 20 draft pick.

I assume he has high confidence in Jackson, who started the year with some soft tissue issues, but otherwise may have started.
Turner could be ready, as they’ve been high on him and he can burn rubber.
Anding, very well could be ready.
I’m sure Corey knows and keep in mind, we haven’t had a pass rush in 5 years so these guys will improve more with a signing like Princewill than any CB.

Probably dip into the HS ranks before the final NSD in Feb. Can also still add players currently in the portal, grad transfer and JUCOs after the spring semester

Why do you guys keep asking this like CB room is in dire need? Woodland was an exceptionally good CB opposite Delane and Pickett as a freshman was one of the highest graded defenders on defense. The guys behind them didn't exactly look bad either. It's not as dire of a need depth wise as many seem to think. This board weirdly thinks Woodland doesn't exist on the roster when he among Pickett were among some of the first players they made a priority to re-sign.
They can still pick depth up if that's what they feel they need.

Cooley historically has been best as a nickel back
Woodland has nickel traits too but holds his own outside.
The kid from southern played CB last year.
You would have liked a boundary corner but the position should be at least average with the chance to be better if one of the young guys take a step.

Finney seems like the type who could step right in if needed

Right there are some still available that can provide depth

We aren’t, Einstein.
It is noteworthy that c Raymond says we must be fine. Better than any other position in the defense.
Why do y ou guys read a thread and totally misinterpret it ?

I trust these two, but it makes me think that there was an agreement that Corey and Lane came to. I envision Lane asking Corey, that when a guy in the top 15 CBs came up ( " Corey, this guy is good, you want him?" ), Corey said, No, dont need him. No, there are a couple safeties that can fill in. No, he's too expensive for that position No, I beleive in DJ, Woodland, etc, and the frosh are true Lousiana CBs that ive had no trouble developing. I have trouble seeing that CBs didn't want to come here, so it must be that Corey said we are good. Thoughts?
I didn’t interpret his post as saying we were in “dire need”. Seems he was just wanting opinions on the situation at CB.

Woodland is a Cordale Flott clone to me. PJ is probably shorter, but both are light in the arse but sticky in coverage.
