I'd say Yorke is a better defender than Bear

All you have to do is look at the average offensive output by position to know which are the hardest to play/ most important defensively. Historically DH, 1B, LF, and RF all have higher offensive output than 2B, while 3B and CF are comparable. Only SS and C generate lower average offensive output.

Zero chance he played beyond high school. Slim chance he even played at a decent level high school. He coached his rec league team to a 6-0 season and thinks he has it all figured out now.

I would go with LF. You don't need the big arm to make throws to 2b & 3b. In the pros you will often see a 'lesser' OF defender put in LF. Mets moved Soto there this offseason.

I wasn't great but did play beyond high school and was considered decent in WV. I never coached a rec league though.

Tim McCarver had a lot to say about 2nd basement and other positions in one of his books.

Second basemen first and foremost have to be able to make the pivot.

They're expected to make the routine play and anything beyond that is often considered a plus. That said, their arms are tested on double plays and when they serve as cutoff men and must throw to third or home, but they’re not tested as consistently as the arms of shortstops because most of their throws go only a short distance, to first or second base.

They're taken for granted except on double plays, but a second baseman has all kinds of responsibilities, including covering second on most steal attempts with right-handed batters at the plate—except if they are opposite-field hitters—and covering first when the first baseman charges on a bunt attempt. It takes some courage to play second on a double play.

They also have to be able to judge the speed of a ground ball to the left side of the infield, because that determines how long he has to get rid of the ball. Not as easy a position as you think.

Anywhere in the infield is infinitely harder to play than outfield

This is your opinion and that's fine, but to use the word infinitely in this comparison is just wrong.

Second was the hardest than any other for me to learn because of what you have to cover and how you have to turn.

3B isn't called the hot corner by mistake. Either it's a missile because the RH batter got a full swing in and max exit velo, or it's a rollover and you have to bust arse to field it up the line.

MIF does have more assignments and does require more pivots and throwing angles.

Point is IF is hard to play no matter the position.

I don’t know about easiest, but you have the shortest throw on the field and that can become very challenging mentally to complete. Google Chuck Knoblauch. Not to mention all of your other responsibilities as a middle infielder.

Look up the stats for any team, college or pro, and you'll see their errors happen at SS and 3B way more than 2B

3rd base for me was far more easy. It is react mostly. The hardest play is on a bunt. At 3rd you just have to be ready at all times. As quick as I was, I cut off many balls my SS would have had long throws. As another poster said though, hanging breaking balls to righties we’re not your friend. I got a broke nose from a vicious hop off the edge on a ball that was a scorching sinking line drive by a 6’4 230 lb catcher. The next AB, he laid down a drag bunt on me. I got to it but threw it wild to first and he made it to second so it was a hit and error. I will never forget that game. It was the only time when I made 2 errors in one game.
Second was hard for me with the turn and defensively waiting on the ball. I didn’t play SS long enough I don’t guess to get enough of a feel. We didn’t have shifts when I played. Right field was hard too for some reason. Like I said, I never caught but did ump for many years. I respect a good catcher. You always knew when your body was going to get abused especially for babe Ruth ball and younger. Much rather high school and up competition.
