Who gives a shite who starts? At the end of the game, look at the box score and see who got the most carries.

Spears, Breaux, and Reliford are in on the game's first drive.

BK started two freshmen tackles in the SEC.

There is more evidence that he will play the best players, regardless of classification.

Freshman starting at LSU should be the exception, not the norm. When a freshman does start, it should be an undeniable talent like Stingley or Fournette. Sans that, you should hope that a freshman isn't starting or getting a bulk of the work during the third game of the season.

This is something that has said about every coach going back to Saban (and probably further than that).

The perfect LSU season would be:
Play all freshman
Start the backup quarterback
Go undefeated
Fire the head coach.

People would still complain because lsu didn’t score enough points during the season, the defense gave up to many points, too many freshman started and not enough walk ons, and the coach doesn’t show loyalty to senior players.

See Perkins in 2022
Led the team in tackles the second game of the season, played the majoirty of the game the third game of the season, started the rest of the way basically.

Spears saved 2 breakaway TDs on Saturday
played 30 snaps in week 2 and started in week 3

Toviano got his first start against Bama on the road and played very well in a year where we had nothing in the secondary.
Played in every game of the season and then was forced to play out of position.

Durham is better than all the starting backs we have
he led the team in carries in week 3.

Ahmad Breaux is playing a shite ton. Reliford is playing a shite ton. Woodland started last week. Green scored last week. Jujuan Johnson scored a touchdown in his first game at a new position.

Last year, Stamps and Weeks got major PT. Yaites played a bunch. Markway was your blocking TE. Chester was next up on the inside. Lance Heard was your 6th Lineman. Womack was maybe under utilized, but House is a moron who didn't pressure the quarterback.

In 2022, we had a smaller class. Still, Jones, Campbell, and Taylor were day one starters. Perkins and Dibert were starters. Tolan played a bunch.

It's a false narrative.

So yes, the guys who are the best at doing their homework and logging their meals and charting their sleep are getting preference over players who are just flat out better athletes.
99% of the time I am pro "play the ahtlete" but when you come into a new place and are trying to build a culture of success, you can't just give in to the freshman who dicks around all day because he's good. Also, as we've pointed out, he hasn't done that. The best players generally play for Brian Kelly. People have created this idea of him in their head that because he was the ND head coach, all of his players are choir boys. Malik Nabers got popped with a concealed firearm before the '23 season and didn't sit out a game. His WR1 fake shot a player in the head in the opener against USC and he stood up for him in the press conference.

You have a warped view based on what you think Brian Kelly is.

Has there ever been a staff at LSU that wasn't criticized for this

Stop trying to find something to get mad about.
we are early in the season to be finding obscure things to complain about. Rant is out if the gate quick. Williams hasn’t looked bad. Durham is probably going to see the most carries a game. A lot of what happened in the run game has to do with being comfortable in the scheme. I bet if you do some investigation you find that Durham comes from a similar scheme in HS.

I think BK's answer, although not liked by the average fan whose knowledge of the science of football is from their high-school plays such as "32 counter on 1", was the correct answer. Durham's success against what USCe was doing does not mean he needs to be RB1. I'm glad that Kelly resists the pressure from the fans to deal in absolutes.

As far as the 2 guys you mentioned, RB was always going to be a committee this year. Durham got his chance last week so let’s see how the carries are handled the next few games before complaining

Rotating the backs is not the problem. Honestly, I was fine with the 3rd down and goal carry to Josh at the end of the game because it looked like in the second half whenever Williams was in we were passing the ball and when Durham came in that was when we would run. So when we ran it with Williams there it was an unpredictable play call which I loved.

However, going forward Durham needs to be on the field more and in passing situations to not be predictable but also earn carries with the production he showed on Saturday.

I agree. Why is it that some "fans" can't just enjoy the victory???

They don't even realize coaches don't really live in a world of depth charts. The depth chart is irrelevant when it comes to who the coaches end up putting in the games. The average fan is thinking in terms of College football 25 on the playstation but that's not how real world football works.

RBs will rotate in and out.... I could not careless who is on the field the first play from scrimmage.

maybe we go empty backfield on the first play, and there is no "starting running back"

Oh it's not just freshmen. Weeks is the best linebacker we have had for the last 2 years and he just became a full time starter this week.

And gave up two long touchdowns because he didn't know his assignment.

Hopefully, Ranters will learn that just because a young player flashes from time to time, doesn't mean they should be out there every down.

So you believe this after watching BK start two freshman offensive tackles.

All RBs will play. Starter is irrelevant since this isn't the 1980's where a single running back carried the ball 30-35 times a game.
