We’ll see the closest thing to a P4 dormant program if this is the case. I strongly suspect that LSU simply doesn’t care about MBB and this would just confirm that belief.

At this point, I’m just banking on him being here the full 7 years. Every excuse is made for him and for some reason, we’re the only school that wouldn’t fire him. The only thing to keep an eye on would be to see if he drops below 20% on conference wins.

A source told CBS Sports that Kansas State will attempt to fire Tang for cause. Tang has a buyout of more than $18 million, per the terms of his contract.

Recent public comments and conduct, in addition to the program's overall direction, have not aligned with K-State's standards for supporting student-athletes and representing the university

Well this could get interesting.

So you want a coach that was just fired from fricking Kansas St? Goodness do some of yall even want LSU to try and hire a top level basketball coach? Or do yall think it can’t happen and is alright with just settling for other fired coaches?

He’s going to fight that.

However, CoachMc is doing it right. Lay low, being a terrible coach =/= for cause.

The reason I hate mid-season firings is because it results in a mediocre interim coach who might get lucky, benefit from a couple of inspired upsets, and then get the full time job.

That is always the concern. For every one that works out, there are probably 5-10 that crash and burn in the first 2-3 years.

You think David Patrick is going to get the job? Just like Frank Wilson concerns a few months ago?

It's unnecessary concern.

I’m not sure MM is awake enough to even consider raising his voice ever. The blandest man ever

There really isn’t any advantage or disadvantage for the team or university in firing McMahon right now vs after the season ends. The only thing it would do is give a sigh of relief to the people concerned about him getting another year.

Patrick is who MM has basically outsourced recruiting and donor relations to for the last two years. I'm not saying it is likely, but if DP would get the interim job and have some success, it would set things up for an Ed O "binder" type pitch. Again, it's not likely he would get the job. But with LSU BB, it wouldn't be a zero chance.

I hear you, but I have almost zero concern about CoachMc getting fired on Wednesday and DP interim getting the long term gig. I don’t deal in absolutes usually, unlike our normal idiot brigade.

If LSU wants to be serious in basketball it starts with updating a 60s arena!!!

In his first season with the old coach’s All-American PG and Keyontae Johnson, a guy who had heart issues with only three schools in the country clearing him to play. He fell backwards into that situation.

Tang and McMahon are comparable with the argument against Tang being he started in a better spot and has had more NIL funding to work with the past three years and whiffed in the portal each time.

Yeah. Tang was held up as an example of a coach who can win in year 1 despite extremely different circumstances. And he has not only wasted at ton of NIL, but has been a bad game coach and embarrassed K State off the court.

Plus he is a bit of a religious freak show.
