This is why I’m worried about Raymond going to Texas. Is that happening? He had recruiting relationships w all the coaches in the state. But yes, Louisiana produces great football players... if only there was a way to keep them from going to Alabama.

It's not a big secret why Alabama gets so many great players. Football players want to WIN Championships. I heard on the radio today that EVERY player that has gone to Alabama since Saban got there, and stayed a minimum of 3 years, has won AT LEAST one National Championship! It's tough to beat that.

Oh for SURE. If you get an offer to go Alabama, you’re probably going to take it unless you know you’ll play more at another school or you have a connection to that school. Have the winners of youth football leagues come to a game. Make them fall in love with LSU when they’re kids and still impressionable, Bama might win more championships, but they will never be LSU.
In all honesty, Saban is truly a great coach. One of the things that somehow gets overlooked about him is how crazy innovative he is. I get the impression that he probably watches film whenever he isn’t coaching, but he really does bring out the best in his players and coaches. But still...

Alabama is the winningest college football program in the South and has been for all of our lifetimes. Nick Saban is the best college fball HC in history, bar none, IMO. YOu put the best HC of all time at the winningest program of all time (in South) and you get 6 NC's in 12 years.

Think about what kind of numbers Chase or Jefferson woukd put up as seniors. You just saw what Jefferson did to the NFL after leaving early.....

What we need to do is figure out how to change the culture and mentality of the team. Players buy in to Bama’s philosophy. Kids are all in with the goal of winning championships.
Bingo
I recently read a quote from a DB commit about Corey developing him for the pros.....it’s all about NFLU for many. They jump ASAP.
The issue is changing that is far harder than you imagine. Also, LSUs recruiting is largely based on selling the nfl path.....Bamas pitch begins with a legacy.

Alabama from administration, compliance, boosters to graduate assistants are all willing to do whatever it takes to win.
They have the history and cache to do what ever they want and know as long as the whole organization tows the line they are impenetrable fortress.
They’ve got their $y$tem in place that’s more supported and better run the any other program.

Are we still whining about this? Haven’t we won all of the big battles with them the last two years despite them having Saban and basically a guaranteed title if you go there?
They’ve moved on to poaching Texas. I had done a good job. Now we just need to get another win over them this year with all of our returning starters.

Add Phidarian Mathis to the list of La boys playing at Bama. Ed O has done a good job lately of keeping the the top talent in state

Who wants to go to college on the same campus they went to High School? Coach up the ones you got on campus

What good LA in state player has LSU lost since that 2017 class?
Christian Harris wasn't offered - it was a horrible eval by Aranda

Now the question is why in the HELL does Bama have 2 starting linebackers not just from Louisiana, not just from Baton Rouge but literally LSU'S Fricking campus.

Harris and Slade Bolden come to mind! If you have a power 5 level player in state, he MUST be a priority or you give Saban or Dabo or another school like Oklahoma or A&M/UT a foot in the door.
Most casual fans thought Bolden wasn't good enough for LSU. I don't think he got an offer, but he's from one of the most talented schools/districts in the state, and is now all Bama. He's going to be another influencer in that community that will only hurt LSU, and he's obviously now proven to be a dependable player for Bama. Maybe not a game changer, but the dude is playing a lot and making plays for the Tide.
It's decisions like Bolden and Harris that hurt. You prioritized the shiny out of state player who will transfer the second he feels disrespected because there's no strong ties to Baton Rouge, but allow the diamonds still in the rough to get strategically scooped up by your rivals. IMO, this recruiting philosophy needs to change!

Saban cherry picks every state now, but had an easier in-roads to LA than anyone else because of his LSU days. the high school coaches love him, especially compared to Les Miles who a lot of high school coaches thought was a bafoon. And he knows its an added bonus if he can keep guys from LSU.
