They try to avoid placing conference teams as the top 2 seeds if at all possible.

Honestly, I’d rather be in a bracket with anyone but USCe. I think we have a better chance of pulling of an upset over anyone else from just a psychological perspective.

That's not right
It actually kinda is. The committee in their reveals has shown that they dont want to put teams from the same league as #1 and #2 in the same region. That is why the regional assignments dont match up with the S-curve. (1v8, 2v7 etc.)
They did some moving around to make sure #4 Texas and #5 Vandy are not in the same region.
What I dont get is this...they could have still paired #1 Uconn with #8 Michigan and #2 UCLA with #7 LSU...but they didnt.

There’s no hard rule but they aren’t putting two teams from the same conference 1 and 2 in the same region. If Texas and South Carolina are 1’s and LSU is a 2, it will either be with UConn or UCLA

They paired Vandy with ucla is why
The funniest part in all this is SC has the easiest region with these adjustments

No big deal but Iowa ahead of LSU is a joke .

Yeah. Makes sense. They didnt want to put UConn with the best 2 seed (Vandy)

To not have LSU/UCLA for the 3rd straight year

Exactly. They're only going to give the SEC 2 #1 seeds no matter what, and they're not gonna pair Vandy and LSU with Texas or SC. Either way you slice it, no matter if it's 1,2, or 3 seed, LSU is still going to be paired with the same group of teams.

So, are you all saying that the reason that LSU is paired with UConn is that after the #8 seed, the next "easiest" matchup in that bracket for UConn would be LSU? So, UConn as the #1 overall should have the easiest path to the final four, under the circumstances?

But we always get dinged for having a coach with conservative values.

Basically. They trying to avoid giving SEC a scenario where the 1-2 seed meet in the elite 8
So they are giving UConn the lowest ranked 2 seed from the SEC (LSU), while UCLA gets Vanderbilt. While Texas and SC the other two 1 seeds would be potentially slated to meet two non SEC teams in the elite 8
Of all the 2 seeds, UConn actually will end up with one of the tougher seeds in the elite 8. Which is technically not fair either but that’s how they have historically done this

UCONN’s dominance is real but is based on their ability to wear teams down in the second half. We have as much depth as them, not doubt they would be favored to beat us (8 or so) BUT would rather play them than UCLA- their bigs would be very tough for our young bigs. IMHO we are one of 2-3 teams who could beat UCON.

Nobody is beating the "Women's Basketball Indiana Football Doppelganger" program.
Just go ahead a give them the trophy!

Top 4 SEC teams can't be placed in the same region. So if Texas and USC are 1 seeds, LSU and Vandy are left with UConn and UCLA.

I have no problem with LSU-U CONN matchup. I'm looking forward to it and have been waiting for this since Kim got here.

I feel like we’d have a really nice crowd in Ft Worth, and I don’t get the impression this is the same dominant UConn team of the past.
I’d much rather UCONN than UCLA again.

You pick your poison if we make it to the Elite Eight. Who would prefer in a regional final: Texas, SC or UCLA? I'm not convinced that UConn is more "unbeatable" that the other teams.
