re: Rewatching that final Durham run

I know this is age of the spread, but also most LB & DB are smaller now. Have some sets with old I formations. Why would it not work? At least get you 5 yards a pop. At this point something has to change. I am convinced Sloans running schemes are the issue.

They absolutely need to use a two back system about 5-10 times per game.
The first few times used will throw the defense off. And they need to run a play action off of this, as well.

Inside slants. They fricking work with our athletes. We did it a couple times and it worked beautifully - then stopped.
FL must have covered it once so naturally Sloan needed to abandon it

He ran for 98 against Florida, why are people losing their minds. We do not have an elite receiver and new online, lsu looked pretty good

LSU fans have officially gone full circle. From running Les out of town for over-using the power I, to wanting to see more power I. I love it here!

We all loathe Les Miles ball control offense yet the best run plays from last night were heavy personnel on the Durham run and couple of toss dives from the gun.

Desperation is better than failure

Good point. We’re 3-0. With two good wins. Much rather be us than Notre Dame.

The epitome of desperation
Today's spread offenses dont recruit fullbacks anymore.

We did a nice pitch to JJ for like 9 yards - then didn't do it again.
We ran it two more times. We just didn’t run it with JJ because once he fumbled he was sent to purgatory.

Everybody does that knows anything about football
We constantly hand ball off our shotgun/postiol formation
Oline gets no push and ends up in loss no gain or min 1-2 yard gain
It’s nauseated to watch

He hinted that if they have to line up in the I with a fullback to run the ball then they is what they will do.

We actually ran that same play to Durham later in the game. Maybe to the opposite side but the same play.
I think Johnson had gotten yanked because of the fumble.

All that run did was pad stats
not according to BK, "did you see that last play? what else do you want?"

Idk probably every fanbase says this same thing about their offense from time to time, but I feel like LSU other than 2019 is historically notorious for finding something that works offensively just to completely abandon it and never go back to it the rest of the game. Les Miles offenses were horrible about doing that.

I admittedly can not understand what is missing.
Good post, and I agree with your closing. You look at our QB, RB, WR/TE talent AND OL potential (with two experienced transfers), and you have to say we MUST be better on this side of the ball. Is it the play calling, the inability to adjust at the LOS and/or poor OL execution?
I'm glad the schedule sets up like it does as next week will be HUGE to right this ship and get some consistency going on OFF to play complimentary FB with our DEF.
Still can't say enough about Blake Baker, his staff and ALL the DEF players for coming together so quickly to put an executable scheme on the field which has truly dominated games. They are rotating guys, especially at DL and DB (and ILB last night out of necessity), and they are playing as a cohesive unit.
Yes we're 3-0, but it is evident we have a way to go to truly be a championship level team.

Running game is a work in progress
Run game was predictable. Every 2nd down that came after a inc pass was a run. The def was dialed in on it. We also need to alter the snap cadence

I agree with you on Sloan, but I get the point of bringing him back. You were hoping it would entice Nuss to come back and run the same system. The offensive regression in the passing game is frustrating. I don’t see him being back after the year, if it doesn’t turn the corner

Y’all really bent out of shape on Kelly… he is right, we are 3-0 and you all act like we are 0-3.
We're been out of shape because we should have beat the shite out of tech and we didn't and then last night we had to watch the offense do this
Punt-3 plays
Punt-3 plays
Punt-3 plays
FG-6 plays
TD - 10 plays
Punt-6 plays
End of Half FG - 3 plays
Punt-3 plays
Punt -4 plays
INT -4 plays
