Their 2 deep is almost entirely 4th and 5th year guys. A handful of special 3rd year talents.
Their offense is 9 4th or 5th year players.
Defense has 3 sophomores on it alone starting.
Their 2nd string is young as hell, many freshman. The team is a combination of old loyal guys and last chance to prove themselves transfers.
If another team actually kept their defense on the field... they'd be in trouble. They dont have much depth.
This is what they do. They play ball control and if they get up a score or two, other teams start getting impatient and taking risks.
Cignetti is basically like the one dude youd never want to play on NCAA... hell just milk the clock and try and get one extra possession than you before half...
They blow people out bc of idiots like deboer that make risky mistakes and give them possessions with good field positions and free points.
UGA would have been Indianas worst night mare. Miami would beat them.

I think it is because he has a bit of an odd/acerbic personality plus a degree of stubbornness. He's not an overly enthusiastic guy and has kind of a "you either care for me or not, I don't give a shite" attitude.
If that is the case, then why has his staff followed him across all of his stops? He has the same OC, DC, and almost all other assistants since his days at IUPUI. So, clearly the right people find him likeable, regardless of the persona he gives off to the media.
He has been asked at least 10,000 times how he has been successful at Indiana. So, yeah, he's probably sick of it and is giving dickish answers to the fricking media who can't seem to come to grips with the fact he is a good coach with a good system that didn't follow the traditional path.

You haven’t seen their OL I guess. 5 cornfed big hoss frickers that love to push people around.

It’s a combination, CFB is bad and Indiana’s presence in the semis shows just how far CFB has fallen.

Helps when the head coach is really good at evaluating.

Because they took in players that were going to be loyal to the team and university.
It wasn't all about "dolla dolla, holla holla".
If they keep up with that strategy, they will routinely be a top 10 team.

Their head coach has won everywhere he coached.

They are pretty accurate especially for the top 100 guys. It’s been proven time and time again

Yeah. Google him.

They take older experienced players that are willing to work and are high character team focused kids. Plus they are coachable and well coached producing a disciplined efficient team effort in all phases. Listen to his interviews. If kids aren’t willing to come in there and work then he don’t want them. He isn’t overpaying these flashy guys that are all about themselves and the money. It can work with the right collection of players and coaching. We get too many me players that are about them over the team

Good coach
The combo of nasty Oline, good rb, heisman qb, and a couple of good receivers
Nasty Dline
Entire defense tackles well, flies to the ball
senior laden team
They had a lot fall into p!ace. Good story for college football.

They aren’t. Most teams this year are average— everyone is beatable
You got downvoted but I really don’t get why. None of these teams are nearly as good as champions prior to all the NIL portal nonsense. Really since after COVID. It’s been a watered down product for years now.

They play flawlessly. They lack pure talent but make up for it in discipline and intelligence.

Cignetti's analytyics are first tier, by far. He is very bright. His players are very physical and look like Alabama did during their great years. They tackle very well, DB's are fundamentally sound and lay the wood but also with great technique. They tackle with certainty and stay away from stupid lowering the crown of the helmet. They tackle with leverage. The o-line is physical and athletic and skilled. Cignetti is really good and has built a physical and great technique team. QB is the glue.

UP FRONT....any team will geaux as far as the online will take em ....

Do want Cignetti said to do. Google his name. Explains a lot.

It has become clear over the last several years that managing your roster ranks right up there with recruiting and in game coaching as a major factor in success. Keeping a good player on the roster for 3 years is rarity now, and if you can do that, you are ahead of the game. Look at the ridiculous amount of portal defections in the just the SEC so far. Indiana has managed their roster very well.

Good coaching, roster building, and dispersion of talent.
And Discipline. Cignetti demands it and doesn’t screw around.

Team is very well coached strategically and mentally. If I’m not mistaken, on average their players are also older and more mature physically and mentally. They are a truly sound football team.
