I like Cowan as a reliever.I hope he gets plenty of innings, but he seems more effective as a reliever. I am guessing Williams starts either tonight or Wednesday.

Maybe. He hasn’t made an appearance yet this season.

You’d think we’d try to have gotten him at least an inning appearance by now being how highly regarded of a recruit he was coming out of Barbe. Looks like he only had 2 innings last year at OU, in a game against Texas Southern.

Maybe we get a Landon Victorian sighting?

Perhaps. Hopefully he won't bring a pocket knife to a gun fight....

Weird that he only pitched two innings for Oklahoma all last season and hasn't seen the field for ULL, unless he is injured?

The "experiment" of going 5.1 innings of 1 run ball the CWS semi finals?

Why do so many on this board have the memory of a goldfish?

I thought I read on here that he had TJ surgery, but I could be mistaken.

My guess would be that CJJ wants to see again if Cowan can get over that hump. He'll be ready to pull early though.
I believe it's also more interesting the strategy that UL will employ as they play a 3 game away series at Dallas Baptist this weekend.
This is an emotional game by both teams, and a win for UL would be gigantic for their team and bragging rights for sure and an all out melt would occur by the negatigers for sure. If LSU wins, it's just another day at the ballpark and another win against an in state team.
I did watch a few innings of the UL games this season already and they do get on base. I went to both schools but I wear purple and gold all the time!

Luckily Jay isn't overreactive and wouldn't end any experiment in February

I think Cooper Williams gets the start on Monday

Wed will be all hands on deck and might be a good spot to get Cowan a start to get him back on track before sec play

I kind of hope we save Ricken, Theophilus, and Paz for Wednesday. Get them a rowdy environment ahead of conference play.

I'm being very facetious here because I know it won't happen, but it would be fun to see Guidry start Wednesday at ULL. Just his demeanor on the mound in that environment would be very entertaining.

I didn’t mean that as drastic as y’all are taking that. The midweek starters are all experiments at this point. I do remember him having a 25.48 ERA in his last 6 starts last year and a 7.71 so far this year.

I think the magnitude of the game is WAY bigger for the fans than it is the coaching staffs. I don't think UL is going to do anything to compromise its weekend series just to get a mid-week win over LSU. On the flip-side, I doubt Johnson treats it any differently than if it were a game vs. Grambling or the like. Of course he wants to win and will, within reason, make moves to try to accomplish that. But he's also looking well beyond ULL in terms of getting the team better for April, May, June than selling out to win a mid-week game in early March.

The only big change for the Cajuns would be what does Deggs do with Sawyer Pruitt. With our Friday starter shitting the bed it may be that he decides to save Pruitt for the weekend rotation with Dallas Baptist ahead.
