Eventually, the smaller schools will either drop down to some sort of league where they only allow scholarships (like college sports "used" to be) or drop football.
Then, there will only be about 25 - 40 universities that will have NIL, Revenue Sharing, etc. (like we have now)
You can basically see it now with the SEC, Big 10, and ACC.
Once schools start losing money offering football, it's over. Football is what pays for the rest of their Athletics.

The money is there with tv revenue. If they advertise viagara and miller lite during the commercial breaks, just take a viagara while drinking a miller lite and you are helping to sustain it.

Maybe the 187th brilliant duduction topic about the state of CFB will bring change. Im just happy you brought something new to the discussion.
I cant wait until we hit out 200th topic of some genius who thinks hes introducing a new perspective of how cfb is screwed up.

I honestly think there should be NIL caps for the teams and /or each position. Also you can only max out a position cap with 5 to 8 individual players on a team. Make things somewhat equal and get back to what the program has to offer not just the highest bid.

Rich people like a return…. What is it here? Unsustainable.

[quote]The next logical step is unions like pro sports to manage universities and players. This will not self correct and government will not get involved[/quote
If they unionize 18-20 yr. Olds will have college football by the balls and will threaten to go on strike a week before the season and all hell will break loose.

It’s a write off for most of the huge doners. It’s just a matter of moving funds to the ones with that f-u money.

It’s like free agency every year with no salary cap. 17 year-olds offered millions before stepping onto the field.
What could possibly go wrong?

every year will be 40 new players, and 30 million gone, it cant sustain itself.
I am no economist, but I see no way 30 million a year can possibly sustain itself. That money HAS to eventually dry up, right?

viewership isn’t down.
No it isn't. We are excited because we seem to be benefitting.
What happens to the viewers of the less fortunate teams? Will they continue to come to the games or watch TV.
That was the first basketball game I have enjoyed in a couple of years. What happens if we keep winning then Ky outbids us for our top players nest season? . We sink back into non competitive territory,

Wanna bet?
I will bet you it can't last the way it currently is. Change is coming but the game is not as good for sure. Oh well I saw a lot of years of great CFB and now have more free time--its all good.

It will continue until we all make it a point to not watch the circus, once that occurs then they will do something about it. Until then they are going to continue the circus as long as it brings in revenue

It can and will go on like this until there is a CBA and/or congress steps in.
I am fine with how it is, how was, and how it will be in the future. I like LSU athletics
The simple minded can't comprehend this, but thats perfectly said.

but it seems hard to believe they can come up with 30 million every year. Add in another couple million for basketball, baseball, and women’s basketball. Just doesn’t seem sustainable
Why does it seems hard believe this? Football is bringing in WAYYYY more than that. Hell, basketball is bringing in money as well. Universities have always, and still do use some of that money to offset the other sports. LSU is fortunate that they don't have to dip in to fund baseball much.
And 90% of the reason it is funded is because more and more people keep watching the sports that you idiots claim is dieing.

It’s mind boggling how rich people are willing to flush their money away like this. I’m sweating just buying a house and preparing for retirement while on the other side of the tracks millions get tossed around like it’s nothing. I wish I was good at football.

But the people coughing up the money for NIL aren’t sharing in the revenue. That’s what I don’t get. I guess they just have this kind of dough between their seat cushions.
