agrees to play once at their place for every 2-4 times they play at LSU.

LSU coming to them should be contingent on having a good season the year before

Ask him how much more money he thinks a match up with Tennessee Tech on a Tuesday will bring in as opposed to a good ULL match up

They aren’t leaving “tons” of money on the table. They aren’t selling out the box on a cold Tuesday night in February anyway. So what’s the harm in playing in Hammond or laffy?

There’s 60 games

Playing a couple in different parts of Louisiana so that people around the state can see LSU without always having to go to Baton Rouge isn’t a bad thing.

Its not like it’s a full series that season ticket holders are deprived from.

Playing a “road” game is good experience for the team.

Not my rant, a friend of mine is asking me why LSU should ever play a road baseball game at Nichols or SLU or any in state school?

Then man up and tell your friend to get his own TD account so he can ask his own dumb questions.

Not my rant, but ask your friend... who should LSU schedule before the SEC schedule starts??

I think that playing ULL, LA tech, UL Monroe, Southern Miss, houston, and rice would be far superior to the Tomato cans that season ticket holders get to watch LSU play on a yearly basis.

It’s good for the sport. Skip liked to promote college baseball. Playing a few in state road games isn’t a bad thing. There are a lot in f Tiger fans all over the state that can’t make it to the box.

Substitute “baseball” with “football” and see how well this logic holds. At some point, lost revenue absolutely makes a difference in these decisions.

I can only assume that LSU realizes some benefit from playing in these high school stadiums that is thought to be worth it. I’m just not in on those discussions and won’t make assumptions about their logic.

or use actual logic and run the numbers instead of just changing the name of the sport.

Alex Box = roughly 10,000 seats at $20 per pop (rough average) and 26 non-conference games.
Somewhere around $5.2 mil if they played every single non-conference game at home and sold all of the seats.

Death Valley = 102,000 seats at a rough average of $75 for non-conference games.
$5.1 mil for ONE GAME.

Giving up one home game in baseball is a drop in the bucket.
Giving up one home football game is the equivalent of giving up the entire non-conference season in baseball.

and I'm reasonably confident LSU has absolutely crunched the numbers.
they know to the exact penny what it's "costing" vs what they "gain" on these games and have decided it was worth playing these teams on the road.

Why don’t we ever play at LA Tech?

you have apparently substituted any logic in your thought process if you think the economics of the 2 are comparable

It's good for the state. Good for the smaller schools, the fans, etc.

We played them at Tech on 2/23/2022 and lost.

Ironically the temperature was 36 degrees and windy and the game wasn't canceled. Their capacity is 2100 and they had over 2500 at the game with a bunch out in the cold since 2pm tailgating before the game.

Feels strange that we don't play Tulane. We didn't play them last year either. We play just about every other Louisiana team in the midweek games.

Southern
Nicholls (home & away)
UNO
ULL
LA Tech
McNeese
Northwestern State
SLU
Grambling State

Also did we stop doing the Wally Pontiff Classic? Last one I can tell was in 2022.

I don't understand your question. Are you suggesting the draw of seeing LSU play won't draw in more fans than usual in their home parks or did you miss the @ part in the OP?

Before they started selling beer at the Box, I went to an LSU game at UNO. That was awesome. I've also been to a couple of the Wally Potiff Classic games at Zephyr Field. I think playing a game in the NOLA area and a home & away mid-week game with ULL is good for the fans, the state, and our strength of schedule. Need to schedule a game in North Louisiana every year too. I'd like to see LSU schedule a game in Houston every year too, with either Rice or UofH. The Minute Maid Classic is fun. This year CJJ scheduled the Frisco Classic instead. As long as we play a little in Texas every year. It's good for recruiting.

Season ticket holders would have to buy them either way, so money is definitely being left on the table. HOWEVER, I still think it's worth traveling to those schools once a year as we do b/c of all the reasons already posted. Most importantly (IMO) is that LSU gets some cheap road experience. And most small school fans still pull for LSU (minus ULL) so they get to see live baseball.
