Skip was arguably the worst AD in the history of LSU.
Let Pat Henry walk - the most successful/ dominant coach in the history of the school.
Hired Smoke on a business deal.

Well if the rumors about him meddling and forcing BK to retain Brad Davis are true, it IS easy to fault Woodward for the BK era going sideways.

Only a fool would put any stock into rumors started by Tiger Rant posters.

Get an education, live some life, and then make bold statements.

That's quite a stretch. I thought hiring BK was a big time hire at the time. It obviously didn't work out, but its hard to fault Woodward for that. Just like I wouldn't fault Verge if the Kiffin hire somehow didn't work out.

An AD is judged by his football and men’s basketball hires

His last 4 hires have been

Brian Kelly
Jimbo Fisher
Buzz Williams
Matt McMahon

Only one of those four could be construed as moderately successful relative to their programs standing (buzz) and he got run off by TAMU

And I don’t care what they did before the hire. It’s not a “good hire” just cause he “landed a whale” fit matters. Motivation matters. Contract matters.

There were red flags on both jimbo and bk prior to the hire.

Jimbo and fsu were on bad terms and literally was 5-6 when he was hired with that ridiculous contract.

BK had never coached in the south. Didn’t like recruiting. Didn’t recruit the same type of family/athlete at ND compared to LSU. He was a dinosaur nearing retirement and Woodward gave him 100 million.

He should be absolutely embarrassed by that

Bro there were stories written about this. Just google it. It’s not a TD narrative.

I’m sure that agents loved to negotiate with him.

Woodward rehired Bo Pelini and forced him on O in 2020.

So all of you who hate O for the fall of the program, remember this nice turd that was handed to the football program.

LSU had a long list of puppets as AD.Bob Broadhead was the best ,he knew good coaches,Arnsparger,Gunter ,Skip, etc.but he was an outsider and Dale didn’t like him and got him run off.Skip was hired to put in seat lisences and taf fees. The powers that be thought the fans wouldn’t rebell as much having a person with his success at LSU doing their dirty work.
Paul Dietzel was brought in to fire Cholly Mac and hire the next HFC.He seemed to make a good hire ,Bo Rein, then tragedy struck and the FB program went to hell.SWs problem was he thought he was the smartest person in the room including micromanaging coaches and telling them who they could and could not hire. His ambition was to become President of LSU and found out how smart he was.

Honestly, if Nuss hadn’t shite the bed last year, we would be talking about how great Woodward is.

Let's make sure that somebody says something bad about Woodward and McMahon every day in case anybody else even starts to think otherwise.

My God, a lot of you folks must think about LSU sports 100% of the time.

It wasn’t so much the hires, it was the contracts that led to much of his demise

Honestly I thought it was kinda dumb in light of the last buy out fiasco but we are seeing how fit and motivation matters.

And there is no way that I will ever believe that BK gave off the same vibes kiffin did

Some of your points are very valid.

I don't agree with this at LSU. Baseball matters a whole lot.

The landscape changed quickly as woody took over and he quickly became a dinosaur

His model was raise money, spend a shite ton, and then get it back in non revenue sports via PR. He misfired badly on football nearly killing the golden goose and whiffed badly on basketball killing the other potential big revenue getter

His only saving grace is Jay Johnson and if he has his way we wouldn’t have ended up with Jay

Did he end up being a good AD? Hell no. But worst AD in NCAA history?? Come on. How quickly we forget Joe Alleva.

He was FAR better than Joe Alleva, even with the misses. He improved fundraising and overall organization within the athletic department. He was a little late on getting the collective’s act together and the NIL structure, but that did happen. We just needed the right coach to take advantage of it.

Did Woodward end up undoing it by meddling and swinging big on Kelly and missing- yes. McMahon was obviously another big miss. He basically fired himself. I don’t think anyone believes he should still be here after what has come out about the way he meddled with football.

But even with the negatives, he was still better than Alleva. Verge and Kiffin are much better set up for immediate success because of the mess that had already been cleaned up behind the scenes. Money is everything and our program has it now. That’s not a fricking accident and it’s more valuable than the army of tards here is capable of comprehending.
