Two things are true. The Mavericks wouldn't be in the finals without Luka.
Luka is not playing well enough especially on defense to give his team a chance at victory.

My question? What has this guy ever done to be so judgemental on players? Has he ever play basketball? If he did at what level did he acheive?

This is irrelevant

yeah, I got no issue with him not being a player, hell....Kendrick Perkins was a player and he may be one of the worst analaysts I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

But I always wondered how he leveraged that early Bronny Love into the position he has. Did Bronny go to bat for him?

So you have to have played the sport to give a professional opinion? If that was the case half of espn should be fired

Got hired to be an analysis. I've never played higher than HS basketball, but if I were to someday get paid his salary to go on TV and blast some players, you better be damn sure I would.

Celtics only actually shot 6 for 15 with Luka as primary defender according to ESPN stats…

I mean I guess they “hunted him” but that’s not ”destroying him when he’s on D” imo at least…

Why is he held to a different standard thab SAS? What has SAS ever done but yell?

It is what he gets paid to do.

I don't think he's wrong in the sense of Luka crying last night was embarrassing. I do think he's wrong in saying that Luka is the reason they are down 3-0. The Mavs have no bench and Kyrie was awful in games 1 & 2.

PJ, Kyrie were the horses last night. All Luca had to do was play some defense, not turn the ball over and dish. Take points when you can but he looked off and frustrated.

I hate these types of arguments. It adds zero to the conversation. It's just used as a way to try to demean the other person because you have no legit argument against what they are saying. Which is true by the way.

You don't have to play sports, or be a former professional athlete to have a take on something related to professional sports. Who takes Kendrick Perkins seriously? He's an NBA champion, but a walking idiot.

Because he watches more hoops in a week than I watch in a season.

He may be fat, and he may dickride Lebron, but he knows basketball.

And you don’t even really need to know basketball to know that getting blown by and actively targeted on defense is a problem and a roadblock for him winning a title.

He hustled and played defense last night for the first 7 minutes and they had the best stretch of this entire series. So he can do it, probably won’t ever been an elite defender but effort as a defender will prevent you from being targeted and good things happen when you do.

Then he started yelling at the officials more than he was playing basketball and was letting his defender get easy buckets on the other end because he was still yelling. Regardless if you feel he has a fair gripe on any specific calls or the calls in general, you can’t be the best player on your team and take yourself out of the game like that mentally. Calls will get missed, but you’re compounding those issues by allowing an easy bucket on the other end.

The irony is Tatum on the other side is notorious for this kind of constant complaining and will get lazy getting back so he can complain, but Lukas been so bad about it, it’s hard to even notice when Tatum does do it

Hate seeing a guy like Luka foul out on blocking fouls, but they were absolutely fouls and you simply can’t put yourself in that position in a tight game in the last couple minutes. Didn’t play defense all game, why are you trying to cop a charge now?

he was at the right place at the right time. I can't blame him for riding the wave.

Well, he has more fouls and turnovers than points in the 4th quarter of this series. That does not help. I mean he's 3-15 fg in the 4th quarter. That's a big reason.

The Mavs were up by one at the half playing close to as well as they can play while the Celtics first half was pretty dog shite. Stop blaming Luka, the Celtics are just that much better.

I agreed with almost all of what he said and thought it was overdue for a bigger TV name to call him out, so I liked that. But I honestly do see where you're coming from simply because I would be absolutely embarrassed to be on national TV being that fat and criticizing professional athletes. It does make it a little harder to take a guy serious when his second chin is the size of a basketball. But his criticisms were certainly fair.

His job is to know people and to know things. Basically being the first reporter Lebron would talk too and knowing lebron’s camp allowed him to have almost exclusive access to the most popular active American sports individual at the time.

That’s how he got here.

Lebron basically used Windy as a mouthpiece early on that got him access and into the media club, but he's actually developed a reputation on his own away from Lebron

Would he have gotten here without Lebron? Likely not

But what he is now has nothing to do with Lebron anymore. I don't even think they're close anymore

Like I said, I got no issue with the "never played the game" thing.....again I reference Perkins who somehow keeps moving up the ladder despite his obvious shortcomings.

I don't watch enough NBA or NBA talk shows to really judge exactly how good Windy is at his job....just always wondered how he got where he is and I've gotten some helpful feedback on that.
