re: Where Will Malik Willis End Up?

Is it better for the Jets to signed Malik Willis or trade for Murray?
I guess it depends on how much they want to gamble.
With Willis, he's younger and arguably has more potential at a somewhat cheaper price point (depending on the contracts offered by the amount of teams that might try to land him).
With Murray, you'd have to trade something and then potentially be on the hook for, at maximum cash paid (assuming no payment by the Cardinals or need to renegotiate with Murray), $42,542,500 in 2026, $36,335,000 in 2027, and an possibly (option year) $46,350,000 in 2028. Kyler Murray Spotrac Cash Breakdown
Now Murray does have more of a track record (that's both good and bad) opposed to Willis. But again, that gives you a better idea of Murray's ceiling and floor and a shorter contract (again assuming they won't be forced to give a new contract to Murray).
So it really depends on how much Aaron Glenn, the GM, and owner want to tie the team to Malik Willis (who was traded to the Packers for 7th round pick in 2024). Is he a product of the Packers' system?

He started two games in 2025. Lost both of them. Averaged 200 yards per game and 1 TD. And someone is gonna pay this dude 30M\yr? Dude's thrown 6 TDs in his entire 4 year career.
Somehow I’m reminded of Matt Flynn making an arse ton of money due to being Rodgers’ backup.
Must be a GB thing.

I believe that Murray's contract has out after this season, for the team.

If he's traded, they definitely have an out (save for the 19.5 million salary guaranteed on the 5th day of the league year). Which leans more into if the Jets don't want to necessarily go all in with Kyler Murray.
But that basically goes for the Cardinals too since his signing bonus amortization ends after this season and most of the other money is tied up in various options/bonuses.

Glad the Saints arent in the market fir a QB. They would be the dumbass team to give him $30 million a year for 4 or 5 years.

30 is just stupid. In a normal market the guy isn’t even worth 5 mil/yr. The GM that ends up giving this guy 30 mil will be fired a year or two after. I think the average football fan could do a better job at building a roster than most NFL GM’s.

Someone will make a huge mistake if they sign him to a big contract.

Flynn basically got paid based on one game where Rodgers sat the last game of the year due to the Packers clinching the #1 seed in the NFC. Flynn started and threw for 480 yds and six TD's vs Detroit. He was suddenly in high demand and Seattle took the bait.

Didn't they also draft Russel Wilson over that offseason?

They Browns will do something dumb, and he'll end up there. Franchises that screw up over and over again.

2. Jets

interested teams I’ve spoken to at the Combine in Indianapolis believe him getting at least $30M per year is a foregone conclusion.
What has he done to warrant that kind of money? I know NFL QBs make decent money, but $30 mil for that dude? Sounds like a good way for a GM to get fired in a couple years. I hope it works out for him, but kind of wild someone is wanting to pay him that much for not doing anything.

Zach Wilson is better.

Yeah probably only in your head. Bad backup veteran QBs get more than 5 mil.
