I don't know what this actually means (something with the daily demand compared to other titles, whatever that means), but it does show Andor is well below the other Disney+ shows.

Plus, there are no A-list Star Wars characters to get behind

A few things about this show:
Mon Motha has been mentioned, as stated that has been a fantastic look-in. The tension she carries is palpable in every scene.
I wonder/assume that the 'other party' she has recruited is Organa. Getting another Senator on board will be a big deal, giving the revolution some legs. I thought he was behind the rebellion the whole time, but perhaps he's just been sympathetic until the Empire abducted his daughter (Kenobi).
Organa shows the risks involved; we know the Empire blows him and his planet up. Mon Motha has been fearing that one day the stormtroopers will come for her... soon she will realize her actions endanger not just her or her immediate family, but her entire planet too. We as fans know that she slips by under the radar, but it's got to be a daily grind on her.
also, I just really like that little droid Cassian's stepmom has... it's basically a dog. Can't really help you physically, but it's always 'yay, Cassian is back'. It even has a pet bed (charging station). It wants to follow him everywhere. If it had a tail, it would be wagging whenever he's there.
I want one.

The scene with his adoptive mother was well acted by both. “You can’t stay and I can’t go”. That actress did a wonderful job conveying her emotions. I felt like they were real people and certainly not in the Star Wars universe

quote:he started that with Return of the Jedi. I believe the original story boards had Wookies on Endor and not teddy bears. But he wanted to sell toys.
I think it has to do with Disney is a company marketing to kids and even Lucas when he made the OT he was quoted as saying it was made for 12yo children not adults. I saw SW as a kid and this series is the first I feel grew with me as an adult. It left the childhood status behind and shows SW has aged well to meet the version of the more mature audience they grew up loving SW.

quote:yea Star Wars needs more of this. While Mando and Fett were entertaining... they were still rather B list shows. Fest more so than Mando. But still. This show is great

Cassian really wanted to tell her it was him but had to hold it in or put her in danger. Great scene.

It kind of crazy for Mon Mothma actress Genevieve O'Reilly to go from having her role almost completely edited out of Revenge of the Sith to having a minor part in a one off movie to now co-starring in a major streaming series in the same role.
That some series deep cut fan service if I ever saw it.

quote:When she’s walking down the hallway to the meeting, I didn’t realize she was the assistant, and I thought they were introducing his sister. I think it would make sense because she probably has a lot of the same things that Luther saw in Andor, so he recruited both to join him. He may even suspect it, or at least that they know one another, since he would know they may be the only 2 individuals from that planet left.
I was considering the same thing.
It would also be ironic since while we’re not sure if Luthen directed her to put the hit out on Cassian, I suspect this was her own plan to protect Luthen who may be the parent figure to her that Clem and Maarva were/are to Cassian.

Yeah, as soon as she suggested it, I thought that seemed off. They would be rebelling against the tight grip of the overlords by murdering people that help them. I hope this was something taken on by the assistant rather than a direct order from Luthen.

I’ve really been impressed by this show. Am I the only one desperate to know Syril’s arc? Such a peculiar character. I’ve convinced myself that he’ll somehow become a rebel hero by the end of the series.

Just looked up her resume’ and it’s mostly been quality British TV series, but one movie with her and Eric Bana looks very interesting:

The end of Episode 7 had a couple shots that pay homage to Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

Just finished this weeks, and it was another great episode. The tension has been excellent.
Working in an Empire Prison seems like hell too. I'm glad we're getting glimpses of how the Empire works.
Forrest Whitaker was also amazing, and I hope we get more scenes from him here on out.

I was so glad I saw he was cast once again in that role.
I hope the finale for the season lives up to the show so far. I have big expectations for the finale.

This series has been so fascinating. It's set in a Star Wars world but refreshingly feels so un-Star-Wars.
The first 6 episodes felt like a political thriller like Syriana or some IRA rebellion movie. This episode 8 had the vibe/tension/look reminiscent of something like THX 1138, Gattaca and even Squid Game. I'm loving the freshness. And the unexpected cameos by Andy Serkis and Forrest Whitaker were the cherry on top.
Am I alone in thinking this the most menacing the foot soldiers (stormtroopers, ISB soldiers, etc) have been since A New Hope when they fried Owen & Aunt Beru and hunted the droids? They've mostly been a joke in the other movies. To me, in this series, they actually feel threatening, like the long arm of tyranny.

Now I am sad as the second and final season is not expected to be released until sometime in 2024.
I like the direction though.

quote:
“The answer elegantly presented itself; we’re going to take our four blocks of three in the second half of the show and each block is going to represent another year closer [to the events of Rogue One]. We really get to take the formative forging of Cassian Andor in the first 12 episodes and then we get to take that organism that we’ve built up and run it through the next four years in a really exciting narrative fashion.”

Episode 8 has moments; but, felt like a bunch of filler after Ep 5-7. Great to see Saw again. Can sense that they are ratcheting up the tension. We should see the powder keg blow soon!
