Rome was a very good show. I wish it wouldn't have gotten cancelled.

Could they not have picked a actress to play Cleopatra that did not look like a 13 year old little boy?

Roman historian Dio Cassius described Cleopatra as “a woman of surpassing beauty." That actress is attractive but not one to alter the course of history.
Dude was alive like 180 years after Cleopatra and it’s not like he had a photograph to work from.
Also Cleopatra is from a family tree full of incest, Cleopatras dad was her mom’s uncle, her grandparents were 1/2 siblings and her great grandparents were full brother and sister.
Spare me the “most beautiful woman in the world” crap. She was attractive because she represented control of Egypt which meant major gold and grain supply for all of the Mediterranean sea

Edited to correct what I said, apparently it was cut short due to budget concerns and not because of another series.
I enjoyed it to, especially the first season

Based on descriptions, her likely genetics & artwork meant to depict the actual Cleopatra, this is what some 'experts' believe to be as close to a likeness of her as can be reconstructed.
Why her hair is even shorter, looking like Peter Pan or whatever, is a weird flex. If she were excessively blessed up top, we'd expect that to be reflected more in the artwork, But it's a good guess she was curvier than the actress portrayed above.

Finished this series today. Would have liked to see more but honestly, the second season ending did not leave me hanging and honestly, it could have been the end of the show. No real loose ends
Reminds me of how BOSS ended after season 2. Yes it could have went on and there were some things left unanswered but in all, it did not leave me hanging. BOSS was a amazing show

The issue with season 2 of Rome is that it squeezed like 3-4 seasons in one because they had to end it due to budget issues.

Wow
I watched that show & don't even recall Cleopatra being in it
I do recall the kid playing patrician Octavian having the thickest cockney accent ever

You remember wrong.

You remember wrong
Was I exaggerating for effect? Yes.
Or maybe I'm misremembering
But listen to his pronunciation of "Julii" at :55 or "strike the first blow" at 2:10. You can hear his natural accent leaking through
Find the scene where he talks about holding a feast for the army "on the failed of Mahz". I've remembered his accent in that for 20 years. Have I remembered wrong?

Rome conquered and ruled Egypt in 27 B.C. long before the birth of Cleopatra. They did not need her for control of Egypt. They were Rome the most powerful nation on earth. She exploited the Roman Civil War because she was very savvy. And while the Ptolemy's intermarried....

Cleopatra was an exceptionally well-educated intellectual, skilled in chemistry, economics, mercantile strategy, military theory, law, and linguistics. She was the first Pharaoh to speak to the diverse peoples of her empire in their own languages, in which she was fluent in as many as 10.
I don't think it is a stretch to accept her as both intelligent and beautiful. You keep your dream alive though.

Oops. I was thinking Rome already controlled Egypt. They certainly acted that way during the Civil War when Pompey fled there and got killed to please Caesar.

yes, Rome controlled Egypt by the time Cleo became queen and married her younger brother.

Even in some of the less flattering portrayals of Cleopatra in sculpture, drawings, and renderings she would probably be an 8 or 9 compared to the average chick on the streets in some random village in Rome or something.

Probably correct my friend. But if WE are gonna portal her as a seductive mistress in a modern show, lets not make her look like peter pan.
Lets put some tits and arse on her to make her more like what we have always thought she was. I mean the certainly did not hold back on Atia. She brought it
