Uh oh, the McBride fanboys are mad. But hey, grats on writing the worst Halloween movie ever made? Pretty incredible to do worse than Resurrections!

The pool used to be small.

Surface comedy, if you had a goofy shtick could make you a star.

The market is now saturated.

Speaking for my own preferences, it’s harder to claw yourself to the top now.

Surface goofy comedy isn’t doing it anymore.

Wit is what does it.

I admit I’m a McBride/sunny/resident alien fan when it comes to comedy. Because it seems witty and thought out.

I don’t even consider Jim Carrey in the same category. Don’t shoot me.

McBride was also responsible for a horrid trilogy of Halloween films. “Evil dies tonight” right? Yikes, that’s some writing!
Something happened here.

McBride doing McBride things should not make you this upset. Honestly, you being this upset and saying anyone that likes some McBride's work is total unintelligent white trash.

Oh no... I see now (TD post history).... you're another lifetime poli-tard.

You got me twisted homey. I like McBride but not a fanboy and haven’t seen Resurrections but none of that is relevant to seeing you acting a bleeding vagina for no reason over a harmless topic. Bitch arse.

What?

I went in blind to your posts, but to even propose looking at someones post history is a bad thing is laughable.

Enjoy 19/20 posts on politards and pretend you have any rational perspective.

You know who isn't funny, and every joke is about how good looking he is? Matt Rife. I don't dislike him because he's good looking. I dislike him because he's smug, and all his jokes revolve around him being good looking. His comedy is more geared towards females than males.

Michael Cera is great. He's actually been making a comeback. He was cold from 2010 to 2022, but I've seen him in more stuff lately

Unpopular Opinion: The Office is overrated. It is talked about like it is a Top 3 TV series of all time up there with Breaking Bad. Don't get me wrong, I can watch 1 single episode of The Office, but it's a show you can kind of just doze off on and look at your phone. It's okay, but it's not like The Best Thing Ever like some people make it out to be. 6.5 to 7 out of 10 for me. There's nothing in the office that makes me feel like Breaking Bad did, the feeling of "I have to watch this next episode, it has me hooked". kind of deal.

Dude, have you seen Tommy Boy?

Just making a point, but people at the time made fun of the fact Tommy Boy and Black Sheep were essentially the same movie.

Love them both though but Chris Farley isn't showing range in these movies.

Unfortunately, people just aren’t going to go see a comedy in theaters anymore.

Movies are too expensive, people can barely afford to go to 1-2 movies every couple of months. They’re not going to see a comedy. They’re going to see Superman, F4, Jurassic World, etc. If a comedy seems cool, they’ll just wait a month until it’s streaming or even just 3-4 months when it’s streaming for free practically. Streaming and the state of the world killed comedies

Well that’s not necessarily true. I mean, The Hangover movies did well in a post streaming world. I think comedies would work in theaters for the same reason super hero movies work. Imagine if a comedy with the same teeth as Blazing Saddles came out today. It would generate the same level of spectacle as those others. Word of mouth and buzz are just as impactful in a post streaming world. So, make a comedy that’s not only funny but also takes a shite on woke shite and you’d have a hit. Something so over the top that folks would want to see it to take part. There’s nothing quite like the movie going experience of a crowded theater howling with laughter. Like seeing Ace Ventura or Austin Powers or Liar Liar or There’s Something About Mary on opening night. Good times!

The Naked Gun is getting good reviews. I saw it and I don’t think it’s as good as the original, but there a chance people really miss laughing together with strangers in a theater.

I really hope that’s the case, because that may restore comedy.

I’d think Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill may qualify…
