Is it just me or has writing/acting on network television become absolutely awful?

Every time I visit my parents' for the weekend, I see re-runs of 9-1-1 and New Amsterdam on TV and can't shake my head at how bad the the writing and acting has gotten on these shows. It seems all the talent has gone to cable or streaming.

Never watch it anymore.

Nope, not just you. The shows are awful and the ads are even worse.

I can't tell you the last time I watched a network television show. Maybe Parks and Rec.
I laughed at the new Doctor show coming out starring the guy who played Spock in the Star Trek movies.
In one preview a nurse asks him "Did you just take the patients drugs?" And he goes "I like to know what my patients are feeling" and it shows him dancing at a rave. Even my wife, who likes corny stuff, laughed at that one. I'm like, umm, Doc, it's well documented what each drug does to people. That will get you fired. But no, on CBS, that makes you a genius.

Good network TV shows are pretty much dead. Kind of crazy when you think about how dominant they were at putting out quality stuff, up until about 10 years ago.

Boomers are easily amused. If the networks worked together, they could combine the twenty law enforcement procedurals into one show and it might actually be pretty good.

I'm trying to think of a decent big 4 network show.
Maybe a few comedies but everything is a contestant show.

Well, merit/writing talent is a lower priority for hiring in Hollywood, now. Other, non-meritorious reasons are higher priorities.
So, what do you expect?

No idea if it is still running, but my son and I used to love to shite on the ads for Fire Country that came on during the CBS games. It looked fricking awful.

Both are Schur and gang productions like Parks, so they were very good and the only time I’ll watch network TV. The rest has been a cesspool for a long time.

The idea that there are people out there earnestly consuming network TV shows is a great accompaniment argument to the whole "the average person is pretty dumb and 50% of the country is dumber than that" trope

Saw an ad on Sunday during the Saints game on Fox for some new show called "Murder in a Small Town."
I have never seen the actor playing the main character before.
They must really be scraping the bottom of the talent pool these days.
ETA: He's Donald Sutherland's son: Rossif Sutherland

I rarely or never watch it, but last night the streaming was paused and smart tv switched to that exact 911 show. Horrible acting, not to mention, the scene was a full blown gay male wedding ceremony with closeup deep kissing, haha. I imagine that’s status quo with all the network drama shite now.

That doctor show looks funny bad.

ABC has been pushing that genius trailer trash wench show non-stop during football games. It looks to be record levels of bad.

For some reason my 10-year-old daughter watches The Rookie.
Does Tulsa King count? Started on Paramount+ but they show it on CBS too.

I think Brooklyn 99 & new girl are the last network tv shows I watched, and I can’t even remember the last drama I watched. Maybe parenthood on nbc?
ETA: Oh, Evil is the last show network show I watched. I think the first season was on cbs before they moved it to paramount.
