I mean you need to take what you can get for Zion. He’s holding the team back with his lack of health and taking touches away from Queen and Fears.

Then there is nothing worth watching the rest of this year. Its bad basketball with a horrible mix of players. They gave up on the season..

now that that's been noted, you have Poole, Looney, Murray, and Hawkins to move. Good luck with that. Jose would be the easiest to move if they really trying to move him. But we're running it back with no asset.

Not trading Zion and letting his contract become guaranteed is soooooo on brand for the Pels. Just awful.

We have the opportunity to rid ourselves of a negative contract, whether it's via trade or just cutting the guy, and we're going to refuse to do it.

There's not a person in the world who would be happy to add Zion and his contract to this team right now, so why would we not rid ourselves of Zion and his contract when we can do it, with or without another team helping us get there?

Just unreal if this is true and happens.

Thanks goodness. They can't allow Dumars to make another move after the draft day trade.

It sounds like they think the issue is coaching and they'll get it fixed with "their guy" this offseason.

And if it's nothing, you cut him.

Assuming Zion has zero value, we are absolutely better off cutting him and freeing ourselves from that contract.

What are we doing...

I’m still a fan of Zion but this team isn’t built for him tbh. We need more three point shooting if we want to keep Z. Esp if we keeping Herb too.

Why would Queen and Fears even be a question at this point?

Wild that they had to mention Queen and Fears in that tweet.

Unlike some others on this board, I fully support keeping Herb and Trey. But I absolutely do not understand why Zion is untouchable. That makes zero sense.

The good news is that we still have plenty of time to change our mind before the trade deadline.

Hilarious, and absolute zero hope for the future of this franchise. Loaded draft next year and you are in the running for top pick, and they traded that away. to top it off, you’re gonna say a guy like Zion is untouchable on a 8-31 team lol, the worst franchise in the NBA. I just don’t get what there plan is or if there even is one. Did they think they would be good this season? And that’s why they made that trade? Do they want to keep everyone mentioned because they think the “right” coach can turn it all around and Zion will have a breakthrough? Lmao.

Explain how just cutting Zion would help the team with the current cap situation.

It has little to do with the cap situation. It's about building a team for the future, and Zion ain't in that future.

What do you think the Hawks just did?

Developing a team outside of him and not having to completely change how you play depending on if he's playing or not, is another excellent reason why you're simply better without him.

The Hawks didn't cut Young they traded him for salary filler the Pelicans right now can't even get that for Zion. Cutting Zion now without getting matching salary in return would kill any hope of future team building as it would put you under the cap limiting your options. The best time to trade Zion is the off season when more options will be open
