Makes sense. DE in a 3-4 scheme are hybrid DT/DE type players in size and technique. That’s why i think Breesee will shine in it, but we absolutely need a NT to make it all work.

The guy is a 1000 yard receiver every years hes played except the year he missed half the season..

The only leverage the team has is to hold the concussion risk over his head to try and get him at a discount, but thats probably the fastest way to nuke the locker room you could pick

Your right. Saints will tell everyone he's a head case and deserves less and the other players can go f@ck themselves. Its what CKM wants

They need a 5 tech with Cam near the end of his time. I really like Faulk a lot. I would love to put him behind Cam for a year.

Who’s the best safety in the game? Kyle Hamilton?

dunno.

I thought the Ravens used him more differently than your traditional safety.

Jessie Bates and Antoine Winfield Jr. are both pretty good safeties in our own division. But even Winfield lost some steam this past year to me. Maybe it was an injury thing, but I get what you're saying. It is not a luxury position these days.

Since we have our QB (Shough), it's best for more QB's to enter the draft, right? Raiders, Jets, and maybe Dolphins & Cardinals will all be going after a QB, right?
Love or the best WR at #8 is what I'm hoping for.

Because he will likely hold out if not extended.

So prefect for a 6/2/26 extension after the 6/01 cuts hit

It’s something the Saints will want to get done before FA (preferably before London gets his deal and sets the market) to save money on the cap, and something both sides will want to do before the draft and otas so things are settled heading into those instead of leaving uncertainty.

We are likely to save around $10 mil on the cap this year once he gets his new deal.

Safety isn’t an important position in this league.

Okay, one last time. WE PLAY AN OFF MAN ZONE CONCEPT. In that kind of defense, an elite safety unlocks the D to something unruly, special.

This is sorta like when they zig you zag. This is being ahead of the trend.

Remember when it was all about the RB? They were the second highest offensive piece behind QB, often more than LTs. That changed. Now it’s WRs making insane money outside of QBs and often more than LTs.

Spot on. I’d trade him to a team willing to part with draft assets and perhaps some interior line play, then go into the draft targeting on with the newly acquired pick and the second round.

That’s a gamble. You know what you have in Olave. I think it’s worth the risk because the pay off could be immense.

QB and his main targets all on rookie deals? Yes, please.

Name one elite safety Staley has had in his system? I don’t care what you think about gettjng ahead of the trend it doesn’t take away the fact that safety isn’t an elite position nor a prioritized position. There are 3 safeties out of the top 10 that are first round picks. The rest are found in the later rounds. Picking a safety at 8 is retarded.

He’s been a coordinator or a head coach for a grand total of 5yrs, lol. When has he had a chance to have an elite safety.

If you want to play this game, go look at teams who were elite in this style of defense and check what they had.

He’s run this defense since he’s become a defensive coordinator. Hes had incredible defenses since he’s become a DC and he never had one at all in LA. He inherited James. In actuality, they never drafted a safety high at all in LA during his tenure. Again, making a safety the #8 pick in a draft is asinine. Considering we just drafted a stud in sanker. It’s a wasted pick right now.

It’s not a wasted pick and downs will be drafted in the top 10.

With that said, I’d love Haulcy in the second, but I’d want to move down a bit.

FYI, Buddy Ryan’s 46 ran the same concepts.

The top 3 defenses in NFL history ran the same concept and all of them had all pro/pro bowl safeties, one had a shut down corner, the 2000 Ravens. We are talking about the best defenses in history. It’s designed to take pressure off of the CB and to play in space. For that to be successful at an elite level you need that kind of safety, and LBs that have good play recognition, and can either attack the run, or drop on space to close passing lanes.

You don’t have to believe me. Just go look at the tape.

I love to hear they want to upgrade the TE room. Excited about the growth of Juwan this year but let’s be honest….he’s a big WR and not a true TE.
True TE’s would elevate this offense tremendously

I like Stowers out of Vandy. He can block and he’s good in space.

Don’t consider myself a panican, but dammit that was my first thought

If Love is the guy, I hope there are multiple olinemen selected by the Saints in the other rounds.

We ain’t to the point where we can take a RB with a top 10 pick… WR, CB, OL and pass rusher far more important to this team… Love special but you can find a running back just as effective .., probably not more talented but just as

Right. It would be crazy to take love at 8.
