Carlos Arango aka Cumbamba aka Miguel Velez who was Griselda Blanco's second favorite hitman after Jorge “Rivi” Ayala was the actual shooter despite reports it was another of the three men. He seemed like an experienced hitman.
quote:
While doing research for the documentary, the name Cumbamba kept coming up in the most horrific ways: machine-gunnings, chainsawings, draining the blood from a dismembered corpse in a bathtub so that the body would be easier to fold up and dispose of. He worked for Griselda Blanco and was suspected of involvement in the infamous Dadeland Mall massacre in 1979. The Miami Herald’s Jeff Leen called him “one of the most feared hitmen of Miami’s cocaine wars.”

I was friends with a DEA agent that was heavily involved in getting Seal. He went to his grave knowing the gov't killed(ipso defacto) a foot soldier for the flag officers crimes.

I believe two gunmen were captured and convicted by special prosecutor Prem Burns. She also received death threats as the prosecutor. She should have been elected DA of EBR. Tough and smart as a whip. I wouldn’t want her prosecuting me.

The government had to know that having Seal work out in the open in BR was just advertising for a hit.

Polozola took the occasion to say that people like Seal were "the lowest, most despicable people I can think of." In imposing sentence, Polozola further stipulated that Seal could not carry a gun or hire armed bodyguards as this would be possession or constructive possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The judge

Replace those with Judge Frank Polozoa. His sentence requiring him to report to Salvation Army to stay every night was a death warrant.
He refused witness protection which was his best route to not get killed so easily. He chose poorly. Can’t blame that on the judge.

I was in management at the Airport Hilton in Kenner when this happened. A group of Colombians were staying there and one of the was the killer.
The killer got ID'd at the airport trying to buy a ticket out. He got spooked and caught our courtesy van back to the hotel. Before every federal agency known descended on the hotel. He caught a cab supposedly to go to the French Quarter from one of regular cabbies who we nicknamed "High Pockets" due the wearing pants that were half way up his torso. He also wore coke bottle glasses. While on the way to the FQ, the killer told the cabbie to bring him to Meridian, MS.
In the midst of the chaos, my desk clerk called and said one the the Colombians ran him off the road on the way home to find out what was going on at the hotel with the feds. A FBI agent and my self went to interview him.
Upon return, everyone was celebrating. Oddly enough, old High Pockets hit a deer that ran onto the road. The killer was arrested due to an APB.
I couldn't let the feds search the room without a warrant. The next day, all the hotel was abuzz with what was in the room. Cocaine? Money? Guns? It was crazy how wild everyone's imagination was.
We had a staff meeting that day. The FBI came with a warrant during the meeting. The GM sent me with them to inventory the room. Upon return to staff meeting I did not say a word. The room was silent and the stares were heavy. Finally everyone bust out. What was in the room, they finally chimed in. My response: There was guns, cocaine, tons of money. They all knew it.
After I let them chew on that for a while, I let them in on the truth. There was nothing but some Miami Vice looking clothes. I laughed my butt off at them and their imaginations. I think some are still pissed.

Polozolla also railroaded Edwin Edwards. Like him or not and regardless of any wrongdoing he got away with, his conviction that got him sent away was wrongful. Better to let 100 guilty go free than convict one innocent man.

The trailer lost me when they said "Drug Enforcement Agency." They didn't even do basic research on what the "A" stands for in DEA.
