Giving Kirk Cousins a 120 million dollar contract was peak falconry.

I was watching a girl on Tik Tok who hunts with Hawks. Pretty cool.

I bet Obtuse is into it. I'm sure he'll be chiming in shortly.

I used to know a guy..

He said he would trap young birds and raise them. He'd drive down country roads looking for young falcons resting on powerlines. Then hed set a trap 1/2 mile down the road. He made the trap sound like a big fishingline backlash w a mouse in it.

I grew up watching Falcons Crest. Mom loved that show. So yes, you could say I am into Falconry.

Also the state hires some falconers to hunt grackels in cities
lots of Caribbean resorts employ falconers to keep the seagulls away from the pool and beaches. It’s pretty amazing how fast the flying rats disappear when the falcon takes off

Kook and Junior have the main of it. I bet I know who you are talking about.

I did falconry several times with my old neighbor and friend. We hunted with Harris Hawks and Red Tails. My absolute favorite was hunting rabbits. Hands down an incredible experience.

I've spent many, many hours pushing through briars to flush rabbits and watch that hawk in action.

And....to put your hand up and have a hawk fly to the fist. Badass!

Found a baby one years ago that was abandoned.Fed it and let it stay in my garage till it could fly. Came back almost daily to say hi for years and would let me pet it. Pretty cool experience

Haven’t been in a while but the Equinox Resort in Vermont had Falconry prior to Covid, a really cool Range Rover Driving Course and a Stag Leap Winery connection.
They played the US Open Golf Championship there in the 20s. Great place to stay and visit Manchester Center.

Really? That's cool.

Do you have the Sibley's book or the Cornell app? I am decent at it but by no means an expert.

Eventually I plan to travel to different places for birding expeditions because I'm a gigantic bird nerd and also because birds are awesome.

Might even join my local Audubon Society...

I follow jones falconry and smj falconry on youtube...I particularly like jones' videos of American kestrels hunting for European starlings, and smj's bird of the week videos...

Birds of prey are some of my favorites to photograph...

Really? I used to be really good but been out of the game for a while. Now just piddle around recreationally. I made an A in Dr Remsen’s 4000 level ornithology class at LSU back in the 90’s.

My favorite part was when he would show us birds that we had never seen from all over the world and we had to determine how they lived, what they ate, and other things about them based on their physiology.

Back then LSU had the 2nd largest bird research museum in the world.

I enjoy SMJ's posts on social media and would gladly spend the £200 for the bird of prey experience if I was in the area.

I looked into it but It would take my daughters about 3 months to paint its talons pink, wearing a shirt and sleeping in the bed.
