This is my life in a nutshell. My company is struggling and every week is an assault on our job stability. Gotta keep trying to move forward though.

I like where you took that. Tell me more.

Right now for me, but I know it's just a temporary thing. I had to have a second ankle surgery as a follow up to a failed surgery last November.
Part of the healing process is that the repaired foot can't hit the floor for at least 2+ months, so I'm getting around on one of those little "Knee Roller" gizmos around the house.
Getting out the house is a PITA since my main living quarters are on the 2nd floor and I'm not too keen on negotiating a dozen steps to get in and out the house So my life has been cooped up in the house for weeks/months at a time, and this is my 2nd go round in a years time.

Retired at 59. I'm good now except for the discs in my neck.

For me, I do things for others, that gives a sense of purpose. Secondly, I do things for myself without guilt. That gives a sense of satisfaction. Lastly, while I don’t LOVE my job, I do like it and I enjoy the people I work with. However, I believe one and two are what makes three.

Meaning in life is derived from seeing yourself move towards a worthy goal. Depends on your interest how you define worthy.
Potential options to pick from, not all inclusive. Just examples.
- Get in shape so that you can run 2 miles without stopping.
- Build a boat
- learn to weld, and build a motorcycle
- volunteer to restore a local playground
- build an rc plane, and learn to fly it
- build a beautiful table for your house
You get the idea. None of these are prohibitively expensive. Many things can be learned on YouTube for free.

Feeling it too, guess it is just mid life blues. Don’t have an answer but here are a few thoughts.
I set two really “hard” goals this year to work towards, I did a dry January and set a goal of doing an Olympic length triathlon in under 3 hours. The dry January was a great reset, and the triathlon training took up a bunch of time and broke up the routine. I did it in September and miss the drive it gave me to get up and just train, or to squeeze in an hour at night after kids in bed instead of TV.
I volunteer, which is just mindless manual labor (food pantry) but is very humbling and a good way to tune out for a few hours.
I try to think of work as a means to the end, just get it done as best I can then try to be invested in the time and things I get to do with my family. Not everyone has the opportunities I do, even though it’s easy to focus on all the people that have more than me.
I like the gratitude journal thing, may give that a try. Headspace is a great app for meditating, signed up this year and $70/year been worth it.

It's Mondays fault.....worst day of the week. LSU football as shitty as it is doesn't help the weekend.

Everyday. Been working for the same company for 28yrs. I have 4.5 more yrs minimum before I can retire. Not that I'm counting the months.....55 months.

I dont disagree.. and if I were 25, or 32- i would be much more inclined to “stay and fight”.. but im mid-40s now, what do i have, maaayybe 30 or 35 good years left ? And even that is pushing it.. so i really needed a change of scenery and was fortunate to be able to make a big move.. well, not just fortunate- but a ton of planning and work went into it as well.. so yeah, if America falls, the world wont be a very liveable place.. but maybe those of us who are older and able to exit the toxic states of America now will at least enjoy whatever time we have left .

Didn't want to go to sleep last night because I knew when I woke up I'd have to get ready for work.

For sure man. I think it’s pretty common and us all being so connected all the time likely doesn’t help.

I literally said these exact words to my wife at 10pm last night.
I'm basically doing almost everything listed as what to do to avoid burnout and it's still creeping in. I think there is just an "age" where this starts to become an issue.
One thing that helps the most as a short term fix is just getting outside. I walk a mile most days at lunch. It helps a LOT.

If you truly seek God, you will understand nothing else matters.

Not depression, more just a sense of Ground Hog day every time the alarm goes off in the morning? Is this just being an adult or are there any tips for breaking out of a rut that have worked for you? I don't sleep well, probably a big factor. But that's another topic all together.
Had similar thing years back. I bought a boat and started bass fishing. Now when I wake up I’m counting the days till my next trip. Makes the week fly by and helps me unwind after week. It’s a great release of the weeks bs and helps me tremendously
Good luck

Anyone living with burnout?
I think anyone over 40 probably is. I'm 3.5 years out from retirement and just want it to get here already. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my job by any means.....I'm just over it and ready to go do what I want to do when I want to do it.

I’m with you, op. I have been working far too much overtime. 7 days a week. Just finished a project yesterday and thought I was going to get some time off. Nope, it’s already time for the next project, still working 7 days a week. It truly feels like I’m just working my life away. I try to stop and think about how much extra money I’m making, and I should be thankful, but when you live your life for the weekends it’s very discouraging. If I never made another minute of overtime, that’d be fine with me. I used to lift weights. Haven’t touched a weight in months. I have hobbies and interests. I have some money to spend on these things. Don’t have time to do any of it. Sometimes I think about getting a new job, but really don’t know where else to go. I’m burned out right there with you.
