Can they just hang up the sports/reggie’s sign about dress code and enforce it all over campus and the perimeter?

That's what I recall reading from Malcolm's book...

They got rid of most of the cops, and now have some blue-shirted security whistle team.
There are dozens of state troopers and sheriff's deputies hanging out all day by the free lots of Gourrier a mile away from the stadium. Most are either just sitting in their cars or standing around BSing. You could take half of them and send them to Highland and not affect anything on Gourrier, but could beef up security on Highland.
There has definitely been a different type crowd on campus this year.

Agree.
Used to have 'em in the stadium, but that has very recently changed.

Its happening on or near campus but doubtful those involved are affiliated with LSU
This is reddit-tier thought.
No one is saying that they were directly affiliated with LSU, but the fact that it happened on campus during game day means that it is associated with the game day experience.
There are plenty of alumni, myself included, who tell their kids to have nothing to do with LSU, and this is a prime example of why.
It shouldn't be that way.

LSU campus made it on live PD latest weekend episode. They were filming by dubs and the again when the shooting happened by chimes.

Huge issue from what I understand is the BRPD shortage means there’s a lot of cops & sheriffs from other jurisdictions working gameday. Obviously they’ll intervene in serious matters but they aren’t going to be interested in writing a bunch of misdemeanor citations in another jurisdiction.

We had a West Feliciana Sheriff’s deputy in the East side 30 yd line zone.

When the local HS kids were using the Union as the gathering spot on gamedays, and the fights started breaking out, LSU moved with the quickness to shut that down. Granted, they took the easy way out and shut down Union, thereby screwing all of the actual fans that used it as part of their gameday. But they did take action
Multiple shootings over several weeks seems like a much bigger issue than some kids throwing hands. Curious to see how they handle this time.

The least he can do is meet with the Northgate business owners and come to some type of agreement about safety.
It’s not the job of an athletic director at LSU to ensure safety if private businesses off campus.

No, but i bet he (with the push of the mayor of BR) explain the liability these "smoke" shops have in regards to a DJ and street parties that they sanction.
I'm sure the Mayor of BR Lawers, could find some violations in their business dealings also, if need be.
I think the LSU Administration including Scott, City of Baton Rouge, and these Businesses could come up with something that will help this situation. It will take some time though.
The first step is to stop these Block Parties, DJ's, and have some kind of "search" policy inside the gates of LSU.
I thought I heard a few years ago, that LSU was in the process of buying the area on Nicholson from the gates to downtown. What ever became of that? Is that the same process of having a loop around the City?

I think so. Years ago, it had some success. Maybe it still has some, but it seems crime is soaring so I’m wondering if it is in places who still may be practicing it and it’s no longer working.

So now we want the LSU AD to tell private businesses off campus what they can and cannot do???

I wish.
Have LSU or more likely, the City, make it to where the owners must have so much security with these "block parties" or "Dj's" that it isn't worth it to them anymore.

quote:Who cares if it’s “unrelated to the football game”??? People were shot ON CAMPUS. This fact doesn’t change.
The local TV news is saying the shooting yesterday occurred near the Baptist Student Center near Dalrymple Drive and was unrelated to the football game.
And yes actually, everything is ultimately “related” to the football game. Have you been on campus on a Saturday when the team is out of town or on a bye? It’s a ghost town! There aren’t shootings happening left and right like it’s been the past couple home game weekends.

I was shocked for the Louisiana Tech game there were two tailgates, one in the field between the Kirby lot and Greek Theater and one right next to the Greek theater that looked like they were imported from Southerns campus. I was absolutely shocked. The two groups also left an insane amount of trash behind, much more than normal tailgate refuse. From that we had all kinds of strays stealing food/drinks, asking for items and if refused becoming belligerent.
