Wrong. Average starting salary with college degree is between $50k and $60k as has been noted several times. Geez….no wonder some of you can’t make ends meet.
Which may as well be $30k if you’re actually paying in your student loans.

A serious issue I see is that younger people buying houses is they all want a newer house right from the start. Not a lot of them are willing to buy a fixer-upper and put in some sweat equity. Housing is still the greatest wealth builder for the middle class but there are steps to it.
Used to you would buy the starter home, fix it up and build equity, then move 5-10 years later into something else. Rinse and repeat a few times until you get to the bigger house.
Now, everyone buys that new tract home from the start because all of their friends did the same and they have to show it off on Facebook too.
In my area, I can buy a new track home 10-15 minutes further out for the same price as a 50 year old shitbox in town.
Guess which one has better insulation, lower property taxes, etc.

This whole topic is dumb as frick. The determined will succeed and the lazy will fail. I’m 35 and own my own business, commercial property, my house, drive whatever car I want and take whatever trips I want. My 401k is maxed out and I have 3 million in life insurance
Holy anecdote Batman.
This is about averages here dawg. Glad you are above average, but if the average person were at the same level as you, you would not be living so good.

if you are making average salary it should be assumed you went to average school, so shouldnt have student loans or very little.
why do so many that took out student loans think it was ok to not work and voluntarily take out loans and then complain about them?
and 60k gets you a monthly take home of about 4100 per month.
put 5% in 401k and factor 125 for insurance. leaves roughly 3775 monthly.
drive the paid off car, live with roommate for 1k/month in total expenses and put 500/ month towards loan even 750.
that leaves 500/week for expenses. for frick sakes, most without kids should be able to live off that no problem. do that until atleast 25, putting any raise you get towards student loans and other debt and by 25 should be pretty much debt free.
it isnt that hard, just want to whine and live a lifestyle you havent earned.

Please explain to me why the US Government would want to depopulate the country.

And once again. Average is a shite statistic when looking at population wide data sets. The nationwide median is the significant value here, and it is $47,000. Other posters have done the back of the napkin math to show how $47,000 barely leaves any funds left for savings and retirement.

The idea that you have to live in or next to big cities seems to be the biggest limiting factor in this discussion.
Hell, when I started working I had to be downtown in my office every day in a fricking suit. None of this remote from anywhere shite.
Think of the whining if these folks had to suit up for an entire week of work in an office.

1) Where did you go to college? How was it paid for?
2) What help did your family give you in getting started in life / in business?

Climate change. Fewer people = less consumption = less use of resources.
Bill Gates has advocated for it.
Ted Turner once advocated for a one-child policy in America.
Jane Goodall said the earth should have only about 500 million people.

Oh lawd. We are all average at more things than we excel at. To say average = loser shows that you do not know how everything works. If you do not know how things work, you cannot be smart enough to be above that average.
