Flights from Harvard would never have this happen.

I would think every surface on a plane is critical not to have bullet holes in them.

Man, had to be close to the fuel tanks.

I had a feeling more of this would occur eventually.
Any airport in Mexico and Central America, would be some easy shooting targets with planes taking off.
Better hope the cartel guys don’t get their hands on .50 cals. That would easily take down a commercial airliner or just kill multiple people inside when the bullet goes straight through the plane

I went to Cali, Colombia in May 2025. No problems, my return flight was Cali - Bogota - Atlanta - Charlotte.

Somewhere, Jimmy Buffett recalls being over Jamaica and this same thing happening to him in an old and slow plane. (I seem to recall hearing this a long time ago…)

JB was a writer, and not shy about using his "poetic license"

Which one? South Carolina, Missouri? We need more info.
Story specified the South American country of Colombia, but I’m guessing you knew and were being sarcastic? OP should fix the thread title spelling.

Because the fact he's a pilot is relevant to what he said?

Of course I knew. I saw the thread title and clicked on it solely for the purpose of making the remark in the event that OP actually meant the country, which is always spelled "Colombia" vs one of the many US cities spelled "Columbia."

I have to admit that I didn’t know that for most of my life until I travelled there in about 2002.

a real man isn't worried about flying a plane riddled with bullets
