Bruh...good, fresh blue crab and shrimp, boudin, real fried chicken, and...well ok not much more than crawfish and kingcakes.

Stayed there a few times. Its small town hillbilly type country but right next to GSMNP and about 30 min from Gatlinburg, which im sure would be cool to visit in the the off seasons.
I would be excited.

Near the Appalachian Trail and Max Patch. Not too far from Hot Springs (one of my all time favorite small towns). You will love it.

Appalachian people are not your traditional southern people, but they are very good people. You'll love it, and you'll love having four seasons and topographical diversity.

There is a place in Knoxville called the Shrimp Dock that has excellent crawfish in season as well as other fish they bring up from their boats in the Gulf. Good people who've been here for over forty years.
You can get a best price on Camellia Red Beans from Sam's Club in four pound units and Ingles grocery has a good selection of Andouille. Food City also sells a good andouille, not the best, but really good.
You are also about to discover the excellent flavors of fresh tomatoes. Most put Creoles in the shade.
The real surprise will be on a hot summer day, you'll be out in the sun, and then step into the shade, and the temperature drops!
Our best sunsets are spring and fall. Spring in east Tennessee: magnificent mixed hardwood forests waking up from winter with wild flowers that come in waves, then the redbud trees and then the dogwoods.
One hundred per cent humidity is only when it rains and you can see for miles and miles most days.
Our mountains are user friendly and our lakes are for fishing.
Among locals in my county (Grainger) the plural of you isn't y'all, its you'uns. Over in Cosby you may even detect some old English dialects, dropped h's and added h's .
Welcome.

There are plenty of national parks and state forests all around you, it’s a beautiful area with lakes/hiking trails/camping, fishing. Good luck to you and your family
God's country.

I live in East TN near Chattanooga and have lived in Nashville and a couple other spots.
Middle and Eastern TN is so much better than Louisiana in every single way, except for the food and obvious no coastal fishing. But the food is still pretty damn good in most areas. Don't know Cosby, looks really small, but it also looks like you're surrounded by a beautiful area.
The idea of moving back to Louisiana is an absurd notion after being here 20 years. I go home frequently to South LA and once you've been away for a while, it's astonishing how shitty it feels. I love my roots and my extended family, but no way am I ever raising my kids in Louisiana. I wish it would get it's act together.
The weather alone here is sublime. Hot summers (but much drier), beautiful Fall weather and colors, cold winters with Snow, abundant Spring. It's truly a 4 season area and I've come to not only love that, but require it.

It looks like it is.around gatlinburg and pigeon forge, which is a wonderful area. I would be wary of the cost of living, though. Have you looked at the price of housing?

Beautiful area. Going to be huge adjustment from South Louisiana. Going from flat country to mountains and hills. If you want something resembling Cajun food go to the New Orleans Sandwich shop in Gatlinburg and get the seafood gumbo. Hole in the wall place that you will enjoy.

Wife and I have rented cabins near Cosby a few times. I would do it in a heartbeat but have no idea what school systems and stuff look like if you have children.

Cosby, Tennessee and I've accepted. I'm not too familiar with the area but I've heard good things. Does anybody here have any knowledge they'd care to share?
My SIL is from Cosby. It def has a coal miners daughter vibe to it, but you're not very far from Sevierville/Gatlinburg/Knoxville, so there's plenty to do in the surrounding areas, but you're definitely in the boonies in Cosby

I grew up in western PA, and my family is from WV, so I'm very familiar with it all
