Origin hotel downtown has got to be economical. have no idea what their rooms look like, but I've been there on LSU game day for basic brunch and I liked the vibe.
Any of the downtown hotels have to be ok. Don't go looking for trouble at 2am, but you shouldn't even see any trouble you aren't seeking.
Solid choices for Lod Cook Hotel, Renaissance, and I guess Crown Plaza on benington.
St. Francisville is a bit of a drive, but you'll love the vibe and will definitely come back.

If you can get a room, nothing is more convenient than Lod Cook if you're looking to be on campus. The Sonesta is also across the street from the football and baseball stadiums.
Otherwise, I really like the Watermark downtown. The Courtyard Marriott downtown is also a good option. I've also stayed at the Doubletree, Marriott, various Hilton properties, and Renaissance in BTR, all are good options.
Downtown isn't what it used to be, for better or worse, but I've enjoyed my stays there. If you're interested, my reviews of the Watermark and Courtyard are below.

You are assuming you have rooms available. One of the largest concerts in town that sold out in minutes. Good luck.

Will need pics of wife and daughter (if she is legal age, of course) to determine how safe we need to keep them.

My buddy from Spring, TX usually stays at the Marriott off Corporate when he comes into town for football games. I would rather stay at the Hilton downtown or the Hotel Indigo, both on Lafayette Street. Lots of bars and restaurants downtown to visit, plus easy access to LSU via Nicholson.

There's a nice little Air BnB off of Fuqua St.

I had hotel rooms booked before they even announced who the performer was
My advice, book hotels now for the May concert and cancel if you don't like who will be performing.

Prob best to stay somewhere like St. Francisville and drive in.

This.
Downtown has great hotels. And despite what the scaredy cats believe, actual data shows that not much happens down there crime-wise. Right off the bridge coming in from LC and right up Nicholson from campus. No brainer.

Downtown has plenty of options and I’d bet they do shuttles to/from the concert.
Watermark is one I’ve heard is nice. The renaissance is good too. Depends how boujee you want to be. I’d also just look at airbnbs. Plenty of those around campus. Availability should be fine since it’s not fb season.
I wouldn’t walk anywhere past the immediate campus area. Especially at night. I use that rule anywhere though not just LSU

I see an Air B&B on Main St. near Spanish Town and Victory Park. The price is suspiciously low, though. Any info? Seems to be recently listed.
