From Bourbon street to Esplanade

I have always wondered about that line since Bourbon Street is perpendicular to Esplanade.

LeRoux came out with the song New Orleans Ladies in 1978.

Esplanade Mall opened in 1985.

This is before my birthday, but in my line of work I have come into contact with some of the members of the band.

Yep. Seems like Chic Fil A was exclusively in shopping malls originally, but don't know that for sure. Orange Julius has disappeared as well.....

No, the clearance store is still in business, usually open from noon to 7.

Can find some really good deals there.

We used to ride our bikes and stash em underneath that elevated entrance walkway that leads to the second floor.

I don’t even remember what the heck we did once we got there.

Affectionately referred to as “Trashy Dillards” by my extended family for some reason.

Never been to a Dillards Clearance Store, but does it resemble an Ollie's or a Dirt Cheap of high end close out or returned items in a some what organized chaos all over the store.

I think the Clancy heirs own the land and mall is a long term lease. If it is going belly up, I wonder how that works.
We used to hunt out there pre mall.

It’s not social media & online shopping that’s killed Esplanade Mall. It’s the demographics that now dominates Kenner that killed Esplanade Mall.
Kenner has been (and still is) 20% Black for half a decade now. Esplanade Mall is near the worst part of Kenner but that area was shitty even before the mall was built.

The mall had 2 computer software/game stores - Babbage’s and Electronics Boutique. I remember buying Red Baron there on one visit.

Jefferson Downs for the ponies and Treasure Chest casino when it was new-ish…I spent some good times in that area in the early 1990’s.

The downfall of the indoor mall in America is tragic.

It’s true in most places but not Texas. The Woodlands mall is thriving. Galleria is thriving too.

Yes, Bourbon Street will take you to Esplanade. What do you wonder about?

Kenner in the mid 90s might have been the best mid size suburban city in the South. .

Esplanade was the best mall in the state, plenty of out parcels and you also had that large shipping center across West Esplanade that ran to Chateau Estates.

Plenty of housing choices

Good Catholic schools (public schools not good)

Safe, good police and good roads

Outstanding parks, rec sports, and youth activities.

All went to hell after Hurricane Broussard flooded most of it

Lincoln Manor

Always laughed that there was no bridge from that neighborhood across the canal to the mall. If you were there you had to go all the way to Loyola Blvd.

I lived in the Relais Esplanade apartments within walking distance on W Esplanade back in 2004. Mall was poppin and always full. I miss that mall. Katrina killed it. It never recovered after that.

You will have to refresh my memory as I didn’t remember much flooding in Kenner.

I know that. I was just curious about the Grammar in a nearly 50 year old song, but Google AI says that it is right.

The phrase "from Bourbon Street to Esplanade" is grammatically correct. It describes a movement or journey, starting from Bourbon Street and ending at Esplanade. There are no errors in the way these two locations are linked by the preposition "to."
