But the kind of stuff he was describing as being in New York in the 1990s has spread to the rest of the country today.
Liberal, elitist, scum love to inflict on others that which they would never tolerate themselves.

You've checked almost all the boxes in the liberal Literally Hitler checklist.
Good news is calling someone a racist homophobe no longer has the power it used to.

John Rocker was objectively right.

Just because leftist skyscreamers abuse the terms and apply them incorrectly doesn't dissolve their existence. They no longer have the power so now it's somehow ok act like a ignorant dolt? That doesn't make any sense.

Until he got " rocked" in the World Series against the Yankees.
Probably still sees Chad Curtis connecting every night.
I thought this thread was about John Rocker, not Mike Remlinger. Rocker's career postseason ERA was 0.00.
Everything he said about NYC was spot on accurate.

I couldn't remember who it was. I just remember it wasn't a hot mic or live interview deal that got him. It was a piece that was requested and he agreed to. He knew it was all on the record.
The story was SI sent Jeff Pearlman down to Atlanta during the playoffs to write a story about the Braves and what was different about them this year to make them WS favorites. The angle was that previous Braves teams lacked a dominant closer and this team had Rocker. It was a routine piece and nothing out of the ordinary happened in the Braves clubhouse with PR people coordinating.
Well, the Braves got unexpectedly swept by the Padres before Pearlman published his story so that article became moot and discarded. But Pearlman picked up on the fact that Rocker was a redneck that often spoke before he thought and he saw the opportunity for a hit piece. So he went back to Atlanta after the World Series and season was over and after all of the players and front office personnel were on holiday break with the intent of finding a scandal. Rocker, idiot that he is, obliged him. SI used the "story" to draw attention and sales for their special "end of the century" double issue. It was an early example of manufactured outrage.
Pearlman is a far left nutjob. He has a youtube channel where he continues to spew venom and BS on athletes he perceives to be conservative or white privileged (Will Clark, Curt Schilling, etc.) while shilling for "misunderstood heroes" like Doc Ellis. He's pretty much hated by everyone in baseball. I imagine some sportswriters hate him too for breaching a certain trust and erecting a chinese wall between players and the media.

Rocker was pretty much spot on back in the day.

He maybe be a rough around the edges a-hole, but he isn’t a liar.
Dude was crucified for his opinion of the once magnificent city of NYC that has now become the country’s second biggest liberal shithole only behind SF.

My favorite comment I see on social media when I see his big quote that's posted on the first page of this thread is, "they all said he was a racist, but no one ever said he was wrong."

He still blew it with O'Neill's double off him.
Rocker was a clown then and he's a clown today. Probably using the YouTube channel because he isn't all that competent beyond that. His own teammates didn't even like him.

John Rocker
Some ballplayer said something.
I think the most ironic thing about the whole situation is they were driving around Atlanta and one of the songs that was playing on Rocker's radio was New York State of Mind by Billy Joel.

he's an absolute a-hole and bad person, but that doesn't make his statements incorrect.

I’m social friends with John, at least I was back when we were both single in Atlanta. He was still living there in 2010 when I left. He got engaged to the asian fake boob girl he was dating.
John is an introvert. He always dated girls who were also introverts. He’s very skeptical of new people. Not friendly, but he’s one of those “do the right thing, there’s a right and there a wrong” types. He has a moral code, that’s admirable. He will talk politics with you at any time.
Never heard him say anything remotely racist. Not wanting to have your country taken over by foreigners is not racist, it’s how countries remain sovereign.
He does hate liberals.
