You can live pretty well there on retirement income.

The more libtard blue voters who leave the country the better.

take the tourists and white people out of Belize and you’d have Haiti. Belize is a tourist state no different than any Caribbean island you can point to on a map. Their only other exchange is the export of natural resources and agricultural goods.
the belizean government is very (very) emigration friendly and it is one of the very few desirable places where private property ownership is respected and protected
There's a big difference between tourism and expats coming in and actually buying up properties. Sure, the govt loves it, but I'm talking about the people whose culture is getting diluted and whom the home prices and cost of living is being driven up on. I'm all for it, and think gentrification is fine...I'm more just pointing out the hypocrisy of white saviors/progressives from the US who move to other countries and gentrify those areas.

I don't recall that they do.
I was on one that stopped there, but we did a day trip out to a private island just offshore.

sometimes the simplest explanation is the most likely. People move there and live there because it’s warm, beautiful, friendly and peaceful. Domestic politics is irrelevant

They are so fed up with America that they are immigrating to Belize. What’s so great about that country that makes them want to leave America now?
who cares. if they want to move they can move. I will do the same once I get older and retire.

You have to be a pretty shitty driver to lose a trucking job in this country. We have a pretty severe shortage that's only going to get worse.

Is it safe? South of the border always makes me think of kidnappings for ransom. What is there to do all day?

Politics aside, Belize is pretty fricking awesome.
Belize is an unbelievably corrupt 3rd world shithole. You have clearly never been there.
Belize city is the most depressing thing I have ever seen in person and I have seen Juarez Mexico in person.

Sounds like a pussy. America is the greatest no matter who the president is.. What an idiot.

I don't disagree with you but you're still missing the point.

according to locals, and I haven’t been there in a while, the north border is more of a threat because of the Mexican cartels, down south is for outdoor/nature lovers, rain forests, rafting, ocean activities

If I wanted to deal with this in my retirement years I'd just move to a democrat run city in the US.

Crime
Investigations can take several weeks, police capacity is limited and most crimes remain unsolved and unprosecuted.
Belize has one of the highest per capita murder rates in the world. Other violent crime, including armed robbery, shootings, domestic abuse and sexual assault are also a concern.
Serious gang-related violence occurs most frequently in Belize City, particularly in the area to the south of the Haulover Creek (known as Southside). Tourists are not normally the targets of gang violence, but anyone near an incident could be affected. You should:
- follow the advice of your hotel and local authorities
- be watchful of your surroundings
Armed criminals have been active in the remote forested areas of Belize, particularly the border area with Guatemala and close to tourist sites there. However, the area is patrolled by the Belize Defence Force and there have been no reported incidents involving tourists.
Tourists, in general, are vulnerable to theft of cash, credit cards, phones and other personal belongings, including in tourist destinations such as San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Placencia and San Ignacio. You should:
- avoid dark alleys
- use ATMs located in well-lit public areas or inside a bank or business
- keep valuables out of sight
- be aware that wearing expensive jewellery could attract attention
- use a qualified guide for trips off the beaten track
- only use accommodation and campgrounds that appear genuine and established

You can do that in the US too.
You certainly can, but the food is way cheaper there and the options of unhealthy food is limited unlike the States where 90% of what we sell is crap.

As long as you keep the wheels greased with that retirement money. These people (If they ever do move) are going to find out that it's very expensive to be safe in Belize.
