There is clearly some lower-end model available because they're literally all over the fricking place.

the mustang

I've never considered a Mustang to be a true sports car. That nor the Camaro. When I think of a sports car, I'm thinking of a two seater, 4 or more manual gear and hopefully, a convertible.

Back nearly 20 years ago, I was at the L.A. Auto Show when Pontiac and Saturn put out roadsters, things were looking up. A few years later neither of those brands exist.

So, I'm thinking probably the Mazda MX-5 Miata might be your best bet.

I think you meant to say financed over 400 months at 42.2%apr instead of “buy.”

In the early years of production, Mustangs, Camaro's, Firebirds, Challengers were referred to as "Pony Cars". They were not generally grouped with sports cars and muscle cars. The tag pony cars faded later on as manufacturers and owners combined sports and pony cars together as handling and brakes got signifiticanty better.

VW GTI is pretty obtainable, and is fun to drive. Just make sure you get rid of it before the warranty is up. VWs are notoriously less reliable than other cars within their category.

If you want an obtainable (as in low priced and easy to get) then your options are probably something like:

Honda Civic si.
Hyundai Elantra N.

You're probably going to be dealing with dealer markups no matter what "sports" car you go for. Dealers just don't like keeping them on the lots.

I don’t think most people would admit if they thought it looked cool. It looks like an American designed a car that tried to marry a Ferrari and a Lambo.

You can have straight lines or curves…you can’t have both like that.

Huh?

The C8 Z06 was within 1sec of the $300k Porsche GT3 RS on the C&D track.

And the New ZR1 will have nearly TWICE the power.

You get get into a base model Vette for around $70k. I think “all over the fricking place” is a bit of an exaggeration. I might see a few per day.
A 0-60 time under 3 seconds for $70k still just blows my mind.

So people who drive these ugly arse cars DO care what people think…it’s like saying your watch can dive to 12800 feet. Oh really?

I'm telling you this with 100% certainty. If I got in my truck and drove down Bluebonnet from Airline to Burbank, I would see at least two 2020-2024 model year Corvettes in traffic..

CTR has never sold that low. FK8 MSRP was $41K. New FL5 model is $43K now. Used FK8's are still selling for $35K for low mileage 17/18 model years. New ones are finally losing the markup but you aren't getting one below sticker.

$45890 + $455 if you want a color that is not red or black.

Just went through this 2 months ago. I got a white one.

Base Civic's are like 36-38K for a Sport Hatch so the whole pricing on all cars is stupid right now.

TBF though, CTR is a different beast. It punches with vehicles priced well above it. It's way more than just a suped up Civic. Different suspension, brakes, aero, chasis, transmission, interior, everything. It's a blast to drive.

Yeah you're right; $43K and $45K was the right numbers. I knew the FL5 was a little more but was wrong on the FK8. I bought my FK8 used. Congrats on the FL5.
