What's the most you have negotiated off MSRP for a last years model vehicle?

Whelp. Some morons ran ole Clever off the interstate trying to keep from hitting another vehicle. I saw them coming and took to the median where my skillz kept the car fairly straight but I simply ran out of room to stop it before striking a barrier. And the thanks from the idiot was to leave. Rest in peace to the ole faithful g37.
So I'm in replacement mode. About to start emailing some dealerships about last years models still on the lot that I have narrowed down as possible prospects and going into "you still paying a pretty penny on that floor plan aintcha??" Mode.
So question to the board. How much did you manage to get cut off MSRP for a previous years model?

Every answer is going to be time, place and model specific.
You'd get much better information if you said which models you were targeting and were looking to see what people have actually paid for said models within the last 3-6 months.

Consumer reports has a tool through True Cars. That basically allows you to put in what you’re looking for and it tells you geographically if you’re getting a good deal a bad deal or OK deal. We used that went to the dealership, showed it to them and said we’ll come back when you’re ready to get a great deal and showed them the report. They called back in about two weeks.

Nothing German. I'm looking at newer infinity cars, possibly Lexus, and considering SUVs like the Ford Explorer ST.

About 8K off on my 2014 RAM. I suspect negotiations will have changed in 10 years given the insane prices.

It's been over 20 years, but I went to purchase a new car once in October. The salesman straight up told me they were needing to get rid of some cars because they close their yearly books in October. It was the best experience I have ever had because it was no BS.
As mentioned, it all depends on time, dealer, vehicle, etc. I don't think there's any guidebook anymore, things are so different now.

About 13%
Suggest using houston or dallas prices as leverage for local dealers. They will squeal but end up matching

Looks like the average off a QX 60 new in the Baton Rouge area code is about 8.5%. It’s a good tool to use.

I've heard of similar numbers if you really stick to it and do it in these two slow months to begin the year.
I'd be pretty happy with 15 percent. But I've heard you can stick with it and get 20 or more if there is a backlog of the same models. One or two and you aren't getting it.

Is it a popular model? How many last year models do they have? What are like new used selling for? You won’t negotiate below what like new used are selling for. It’s not uncommon for a dealership to “buy” them and flip them to used.

I got 9k off a base model f150 with tremor package and 5.0.
Ford local had some 2025s that were built in September so I know when I bought early November they were pretty new. Days on lot means that lot in some cases pf deals. Could have been on 2 other lots previously for all the consumer knows. Check the build date inside driver door

Some brands don’t take much off msrp. I got the invoice price off a last years model accord last year. Two different dealerships gave me the exact same price so I figured they couldn’t go below that.

Sticker and not a penny more. I learned that from Hank Hill.
