There are a lot of bees here, but that’s not why it’s the beehive state. As usual, the answer is Mormons. It’s a representation of their work ethic and community.
It is one of my favorite road signs, along with Vermont, Louisiana, and Washington

I’ve told people in the past there are migrant family crossing signs in SoCal just like we have deer crossing signs here. They never seem to believe.

I was in South Korea in 97 and then again in 2001. All their signs were both Hangul and English.

When I lived in Virginia all the roads were well marked and every house had their address prominently displayed. Finding things was easy. Here in TN it’s a crapshoot.
