Wonder how long it took them to get to 177K. There are only 5M people in Alberta.

Hope it’s successful!

Maybe, but Ottawa is on notice that they are losing the hold they have had on the rest of Canada. Momentum is a bitch to stop.

We’ll have to take British Columbia with it. As an added bonus we’ll now have a contiguous border all the way to Alaska.

I want to stay at 50

Gonna be a lot of consolidating

New England is one state

we add alb, manitoba, and sask

also split cali into 5 states, throw in coastal wash and ore, make the east of those states into 1

some math major please work all this out

That’s faulty thinking and it’s been discussed at length here time and time again

BREAKING: The 177,000 signature threshold has now been passed, officially clearing the requirement for an Alberta independence referendum on October 19th.

What happens when all 177,000 of those signatures’ people show up to protest?

Liberals will be saying the signatures are invalid due to the not showing ID to prove citizenship.

Alberta. If you want prosperity join us. If you want freedom join us. Canada will give you neither.

I've been following the "Alberta independence" movement for a while now. Their biggest issue is that they have this bountiful, resource-rich land and a bunch of hard-working people 5mthat work it, but the profits get siphoned off to pay for DEI programs and other woke nonsense in the other territories.

They're seeking independence, not to join the US. They would be better off independent than to continue the status quo, but it might only be a lateral move to join the US at this point, with the nonsense our own government does.

But if somehow Alberta were to break off, Saskatchewan, NT and Yukon would move to join them in rapid fashion. If that were to all play out, we'd have to do whatever wheeling-and-dealing it would take to get them to join the USA. A contiguous land route to Alaska without crossing international borders would be unbelievable.

I just don't think they could bring themselves to do this. Doing so would confirm we are the better country. It would break their hearts.

They already think that the US is the better country. This is Alberta we are talking about, not all of Canada.
