Little secret. Illegal construction labor doesn't make houses cheaper, it just makes more profit for those taking the risk to hire them. They are still charging what the market will bear.

Won't need to happen, but I'd be okay if it did.

They gotta go back. 100% of them, no exceptions.

American citizens can do construction. Jobs should go to people who have a legal right to be here.

A “lib gotcha”? Everyone knows the chicken and meat processing plants out in the countryside use migrant labor almost exclusively. Yet the armed, masked mobs are in places like Minneapolis. Trump even said he wanted to exempt farming operations. The masked mobs are Minnesota for political reasons. The red state operations have mafia-style protection.
We will see if this changes. I’m not holding my breath.

Americans have been blocked out of the manual trades for too long. This is tolerated and perpetuated by republicans and democrats alike.

Yes. They've already been in Houston, but haven't seen any in Katy, probably because most of the illegals over here live down towards Richmond.
I don't give a shite if it delays construction, or if it increases build/repair costs. $1B in health care alone for illegals in TX over an 11 month period. That doesn't include education costs, which are far higher due to the continued passage of bond issues to keep building schools.

This sounds intentionally obtuse

Yep. You just have to convince the employers to hire Americans instead. Because they have been unwilling to do this for YEARS.
Instead of demonizing people trying to get work, demonize the companies that refuse to hire Americans.

Black roofers and concrete finishers would welcome this in Baton Rouge.

That’s been the dirty little secret this entire time.
The construction employers have never faced real consequences for breaking the law.

Yeah. American young men getting back into blue collar work is a win win seeing how many white collar jobs are going the way of the dodo. If I were in my teens, I would definitely want to get into the construction trade.

I worked on construction crews during summers in Alabama when I was a college student in the early 1990s.
99% white and black American dudes who could support a family on their salary. Now it’s 99% Hispanic dudes suffering from wage deflation.
We could stand to go back. Short term pain with long term benefit.

Absolutely. Immigration law is an important aspect of labor law.

I dont feel the need to check the status of bearded rednecks and country black fellas. Pretty sure they're all citizens. The only thing that Mexicans do around here is roofs, and they've all seemed to have disappeared too
