In the major metropolitan area I live there were 3 ICU beds available yesterday. There are now more patients admitted to the hospital than at any other point since this started. We are literally running out of beds and nurses to care for the patients. The overflow is saturating and filling up our emergency departments. And 95% of the patients admitted are unvaccinated. 50% of these people are under the age of 65. These patients stay twice as long on average as other people admitted to the hospital tying up a significant amount of resources. This is not up for debate. These are just facts. For the first time in my career I have been asked to delay cancer surgery. Its not just about the COVID patients, the downstream effects this has on other patients is devastating. Again, this is not meant to start an argument with people who are adamantly against the vaccine. You do you. But for anyone on the fence, I would implore you to consider getting vaccinated. Downvote away.
I am as pro (vaccine) choice and anti-mandate as anyone here, but keep in my that the choice is not whether you trust the vaccine/pharmaceutical companies/science or not.
The choice is who/what do you trust MORE (or less if you prefer): the vaccine/pharmaceutical companies/science, or a disease that has existed in humans for not quite two years and China (with all that that may imply).

I have 35 years in healthcare. I mistrust politicians the most and physicians are a close second.

I have a message for you doctor pickles and it’s not meant to start an argument.
I am a physician as well.
I hate physicians like you.
You obviously have poor training and have never been taught to read a drug study critically.
I was fortunate enough to be taught mostly by physicians who were in their 60-70’s (back in the early 1990’s). They taught me to:
1. Put my patients complete health (mental/physical/spiritual) above all else.
2. Question everything that comes out as “new” until it has been established and proven to be safer and more effective than established treatments.
3. Remain humble with your patients and let the know the limits of your knowledge and that you will find the answers and get back to them.
You do none of this.
You are arrogant.
You are convinced and opinionated with less than 18 months of data.
You only care about being right.
You should not be allowed to practice medicine and neither should any of these physicians who parrot the words of politicians.
I swear that every day I find more people in my profession who sound like hairdressers and not like scientists.
