Metals.
Golden Dome.
Whether you think it's a good idea or not, there are reasons beside "Trump just wants to do this".

The same question was asked when the U.S. acquired the Louisiana Purchase and Alaska.

The U.S. Space Force/ missile defense and other military assets are already
Based in Greenland. This entire attempt to own Greenland is all about Trump’s
ego. He wants the addition of territory to the U.S. to be part of his legacy…

They have their purpose but warp the size of things as you get further from the equator
Yeah... along with most people on here, we know how it works.

Anytime I see “google is your friend”, “educate yourself” etc
I immediately know the answer isn't obvious and easily explainable by those defending a position
How about someone just answer the OP in simple terms

I'm as big of a Trump supporter as anyone, but do we really need Greenland?
I know to the naked ear, buying Greenland seems unnecessary. But if we don't buy them, make them a territory or even a state, then Russia or China will. I can 100% guarantee this will happen. And they will not negotiate like the USA.
If they're Russian or Chinese controlled, they'll put military bases there. They'll put defense systems there. They'll control the shipping lanes around there.
With Greenland, operate with a "if it's not us, then it's THEM" mindset. And you don't want it to be them. Not this close to North America.

I'm pretty sure they made it that size to highlight its location, not it's size... You guys need to find better arguments...
What "argument" do you think i was making? I just love how how dopey these maps look and it has been pointed out for centuries, especially when it comes to Greenland . Why are you so pissy about a that? And why take it personally? A lot of people don't understand the physics and geometry of maps. That is pretty well known. Nobody said you specifically didn't understand the map.
I think you may need a midol.

It's not about what it will do for us.

Sounds like the US had multiple different military posts in Greenland post WW II, and all but one of those are now abandoned.
Right. And we abandoned them. We weren't asked to leave.
If we want access to their minerals we can do that as well.

look at a real round globe, find Greenland and reconsider

Probably said by some before Alaska was stolen from Russia

How about taking the insane amount of money, that Greenland would cost
We're not paying for it. And the extraction of rare earth minerals and oil would be a net positive for our economy.

Learn your geography. Where is China? Where is Russia? Are you confident with Denmark standing in the way of either of them and the United States?

Trump needs Greenland. The US doesn't need it. We defacto have had it since 1951.

We can re establish our bases there as things currently stand

What does putting immigrants on the government tit do for us?
Oh and..

Mortgage rates are decreasing. The average 30-year fixed rate has dropped by 83 basis points over the last six months, according to Zillow, and is now 5.90%.
Looks like we can take greenland and you can still buy a house.

Can we install the infrastructure for America's Golden Dome (similar to Israel's iron dome)?
Posted on 1/21/26 at 9:31 am to Penrod
We have it. The Danes have never said no to our requests. We had / have military installations there for decades.

You do realize the global positioning of Greenland plays with the military right?
You do realize how global flight paths work huh?
We have completely unfettered access to Greenland. We don't have to own it to use it. This was an unnecessary fight to pick. The only reason that I'm somewhat for it is just to watch the Europeans seethe with impotent rage.
